Mike, I'm getting a washer/dryer delivered Saturday. Don't know when, they call when they will be delivering within the "next" two hours:eek:
But I'm not hesitant to put my thoughts out there for you to evaluate.

First and foremost, I view this as a CBA get together with a tournament thrown in as a bonus. Mike, you have been extremely generous with your time to secure a "place", arrange for slips, and donate charcoal for the cookout.
Because this is a first (fishing tournament) for CBA, I think we should keep it as simple as possible. Therefore, this is what I propose.

1) We have already set the price at $50/boat. I'm planing on three fishermen on my boat. That's $20 each (I'm making them pay for ice:D; I supply the boat and fuel). For $20 I really don't care if it blows 30mph and my boat stays at my marina. We will all show up at the weigh in site and cook out/drink beer and have a good time. If per chance, it should rain too hard to fish and have outdoor activities, we can still meet at the marina and we have enough cars /trucks to shuttle people to Coconut Charlie's Bar (about three miles away) for indoor drinks and conversation:D
2) So therefore, no rain date. Mike gave his marina a date and they were gracious enough to oblige.
3) Bring your one fish (20 inches or greater) for measurement. No weighing fish. No photo's. Stick a cooler in the trunk of your Mercedes and bring your winning fish to the marina:eek:
4) Weigh-in is 1pm. This leaves time for guys like Jason to get from South of Annapolis to the marina either by boat or car. Jeff, if I catch a decent fish before noon, I'll try to be at the marina to "get the party started" and get some coals hot. Everybody brings their own food and drink for their crew.
5) If entries are less than 10 boats; winner takes all:) If we have 11 or more, there will be rewards for three places.
6) If we have a Noreaster:mad:, and no one can take their boat out, we will draw names out of a hat and distribute the prize monies among the boat captains.

Remember, this is our first attempt at this. We can always take suggestions for next year (maybe a spring tournament?). Let's just use the KISS principle this year (Keep it simple stupid).
If it rains like hell and we have to hit Coconut Charlies for cover; maybe Mako Mike, Mike (garlein), and I will buy the first round:):)

So, I think that covers everything:p
Mike, you are pretty much heading this thing up, but if I'm part of the "committee", these are my suggestions.

I like it, I am definitely in. I assume that all waters are open for fishing and seafood store parking lots are not?? :D:D

See you in the winner's circle!! (Probably from the outside looking in though)

Ok; so add your boat to the list.

1) Mako Mike
2) 5th Tuition (Marty)
3) Justified (Jeff)
4)
5)
6)
etc.

Keep it going.
If you sign up, we will have an "honor system"; you can bring your $50 entry to the weigh in.
5th

Just to clarify. Should the "chit hit the fan" and no boats can get out; the entry money will be distributed to the "Captain" of the boat name drawn at whatever bar we invade (probably Coconut Charlie's; Mako Mike knows the owner). Therefore, you must be present to win:):) No sitting home in your living room and collecting prize money:eek:

It's all good! Are you keeping your boat in or do you want to team up against the CB angler elite?

Add another boat to the fleet. A few buddies saw my post needing a crew, a decided to jump in and enjoy the spectacle ::D an entire boat full of DENA

yachtjim 11-14-2015 07:09 AM

Hey guys, I am excited to see you getting this together and will help any way possible. If you do it on Saturday I will not be able to attend, but if it is on Sunday I can. I'll be traveling back from Boston sat. Regardless, I am happy to donate the bulk of the food and beer. I can likely have one of my employees bring everything up. I can also get a nice prize from a supplier, like maybe a Lowrance HDS unit. I can probably get a lot of prizes from a lot of manufacturers. So let me know how I can help. My email is jim@boemarine.com

One suggestion I have is to update the first post on this thread with the location, time, schedule, and members attending. If you guys want to make it even bigger I am happy to send out an email blast to thousands of bay fisherman, and a Facebook post. Just don't know if you want to keep it exclusive, or "the more the merrier". I am at your service.

Jim; Holy crap:D What do you think we are, a bunch of college kids that need free tuition and a release from our student loans:eek:
Seriously, we never asked you for anything because I for one feel like we "mooch" off of you enough. I think this is a great site and there is no "sign up" fee.
I'll talk to the "committee", but you can be sure we won't turn down any assistance. Some food and beer sounds great to me. Prizes sound even better. I suspect we will be keeping it low key this year. We don't have any "land" committee to organize back at the marina while the rest of us fish. Hell, we all want to fish:)
I'll talk to the two Mikes and get back to you either by phone, or you know me, ride down to see you.
Thanks again for the generous offer.
5th (Marty)

Chessie27 11-14-2015 10:24 AM

My vote would be to keep it simple and low-keyed for this initial one. Maybe we iron out whatever "kinks" arise this round, and then look at a bigger one in the spring? That way there would be time to put something decent sized together. With only maybe a dozen boats, save the good prizes for a bigger turn out???

Thanks for hosting the site and the very generous offer Jim, you're a true gentleman!! :) (Some of the friends I've made thru here are prize enough:D)

Ps- by "kinks" I mean stuff like the 5th crying when he loses! :p

Jim,

Had a great suggestion...Marty, Mike when we finalize everything we should put up a sticky post with all the info...

Should also include language like sponsored by BOE Marine as well.

Mike

mark1234 11-14-2015 12:50 PM

Fishing, food, beer, and prizes? Ok add me to the list. So far I am fishing solo so if anyone is willing to slum it in an open center console and is looking for a ride send me a message. I'm also looking for crew for mssa if interested.

Jim, thanks for the generosity. I also think low key may be the way to go this time. I think "official" tournaments need dnr approval. Greg may have more accurate insight on this.

Mako mike 11-14-2015 03:13 PM

Damn I'm on call this weekend and had to work today. What a generous contribution Jim wants to put up here! I am in desperate need of new electronics, but, however I do agree with everyone else I think we need to keep this first tournament as simple as possible with the few boats that we have and save a big prize package such as Jim has offered for a future tournament. Believe me this offer is greatly appreciated but again I think it should be saved for a larger and better tournament next year. As for a spring tourney, I am all for it but again if Jim is up for a donation such as he has offered we should save it for a fall tournament where people that don't have a way or means to travel south for the bigger spring run fish have a more even playing field. Just my thoughts but let's get through this one first! Jim again I thank you for the generous offer but I think a tournament of this size that we are trying to keep small would not generate enough edvertisment for you to warrent such a great prize package. On the other hand if you have t shirts hats or whatever kind of advertisement things you could donate that would be great. If so you can e mail me at schulte33@verizon.net and I can arrange to get them from you. Again I thank you and all involved in getting this tourney going. I hope I have not upset anyone for this contribution but I just don't think it would be fair to Jim and BOE marine to offer such a great prize package for this small of a tournament.
As a side line though I will be contacting you Jim this winter about upgrading my electronics. Thank you again for such a generous offer, maybe next year. Keep up with the great work of this site, we all have made great friendships because of it!!!!

Certainly a few things nobody should know. I keep my boat on Kent Island with my good friends at BOE. I fish a 24XS Cape Horn - OC, VA, and NC offshore and all parts of the Bay. I fish The Jetty, Red Eyes, Bridges, and the Big Owl Tiki bar year round. I fish any tournament I can get time for and all the MSSA events thanks to my friends at BOE - Did I mention BOE?

fishing for meat, I'm trolling. Fishing for fun or practicing my craft LT.

A couple years ago we moved from Kent Island back to Virginia when our daughter started 1st. grade.

Looking forward to meeting and fishing with you all.

Mako mike 11-15-2015 07:28 PM

Pete stores his boat here with us and is kind enough to sport our logo on the side of his boat. He's a great friend of ours. I have a new sales guy I am trying to get up to speed and I know Pete would show him the ins and outs of the new equipment he has actually in use on the water. Make sure you guys are kind to him! His name is Brian too and you'll meet him at your event. I hope one of you will reach out to me about how much food and beer we should bring. I really insist on providing it. You guys work hard to keep this site relevant, so it really would be great if you allowed me to provide the snacks and pop. I'll not bust our load this first year on prizes. Maybe I'll just do a free Boat Command to the weener. And I'll keep the BOE marketing machine on standby so you guys can do your thing.

Chessie27 11-16-2015 10:36 PM

Again, very kind of you Jim. I'm sure that people would appreciate anything you send and knowing most of these guys, we won't be too picky. Without knowing an exact head count, I would guess maybe 30-35 (11 boats with 3 fisherpeople each average).
I'm sure most will BYOstuff anyway just to be on the safe side but if you provided a case or 2 of beer, that will buy everyone their "1st" round. Maybe throw in a few hot dogs if you just can't help yourself :D

THANK YOU!!!
