Wild Hair Idea...CBAngler Fishing Club

so I'm anti social and have yet to join any fishing clubs like the UBBB or the SKRRRRRRCTBKC or whatever it is....but this site seems to have a lot of good dudes, and what would anyone think about possibly starting a CBAngler Fishing Club (until we can come up with a better name like the Joe Dirt is a loser Club)...but we could meet once a month, or every other month at a bar (either the same bar, or a bar moved around to different areas) talk fishing with reliable folks, share ideas, etc...

I know the response Ill get from a few ::cough JoeDirt cough:: but I dunno, I'm feeling social, maybe it's the peachy GA Weather as I sit here drinking my beer!

I already have a few guys from this board in my club (Bodkin Point Fishing Group) which is why Mark (Mlag) hardly ever sees me in my boat (we rotate boats among buddies). We only meet about every two months at Beefalo Bob's on Ft Smallwood Road. Anyone from this board is invited to join us. I will post the next time we meet. It is very informal, we just BS about what we are catching and how. Show a few fish pictures, and drink a few beers. Rarely we have someone give a short presentation on a fishing topic. 5th (Marty)

There you go Mark. I am interested Marty and maybe Mark will come as well, now that he has this newly discovered desire to be social:D...Don

Don, I've been invited to the club meetings before but was turned away...they thought I was Marty's great grandson! Truthfully I have been planning on going but the last two have been when I was out of town...

See, and now that you are out of town, you wish you had gone:rolleyes:

knothard 12-02-2009 10:09 PM

Sounds racist to me. I live on the LES. You will have to share the wealth with those of us that are less fortunate.:D

garlien 12-02-2009 10:26 PM

Ya know, that might not be a half bad idea at all....Would be good to put names to faces, share war stories, and maybe develop something that would help us all be better at what we love to do...(Fishing at least)....

The informal nature might be a lot let oppressive than the formal nature of some of those other meetings....

JoeDirt 12-03-2009 06:28 AM

Man, you give a guy a beer and he starts getting lovey-dovey about wanting to make friends! Face it Baldzilla, you're not antisocial--people just don't like you.

Can I be in your club?

onefishnfool 12-03-2009 07:34 AM

There used to be a group of us that would do the same thing, alternate boats, so you could go fishing and relax once in awhile. Some of the guys got married others stopped fishing for one reason or another so we are down to one boat, mine. I would be interested in showing up at the meeting and meeting some others on the board. Sounds like a good time.

goinsfishin 12-03-2009 07:56 AM

Ya need a better name for the club.......but I'll join up anyway.......just to stir up some trouble.

PhilK999 12-03-2009 08:24 AM

Sounds like a plan.

mlag 12-03-2009 08:41 AM

I'm in as long as "Baldy" is not in charge:D........................Mark

Francis 12-03-2009 09:19 AM

I like the idea. If it takes off we could really do some cool stuff. When are we meeting first?

I have a meeting place we could use for free at my school. It's a conference room that doesn't get used very much. It's not the best for hanging out as alchol is not allowed (school) but it has multimedia if we ever wanted to give a powerpoitn presentation.

It's located very close to Olney MD in Montgomery County. Probbaly not the closest for most folks.

If Baldzilla has anything to do with it, it will be named the:

Fish
Anglers
Group
Society.

Conjuror 12-03-2009 09:55 AM

I wouldn't have expected "wild hair" from "bald"-zilla

Fish Nut 12-03-2009 10:31 AM

Group hazing?

When are you guys meeting at Beefalo Bobs next?

I live in the area, and would like to come and tell some fish stories.

MikeWood 12-03-2009 10:54 AM

I love the idea. I've been lazy to this point and haven't joined anything, but I'm sure hanging with some of you experts would do me some good!

swartj 12-03-2009 01:42 PM

I will join also. That would be a good thing.

So no body sees the irony in the title of this post but me. "Wild Hair Idea..." by Baldzilla.

Right up the street from me. I'm in, except for the no alcohol part.

justchillin 12-03-2009 06:43 PM

LMAO you guys got me rolling on the floor. On a serious note I've been to a few of Marty's club meetings it is a very nice restaurant. Shrimp specials on his club night and everyone i've met have been nice guys. I'll be at his next one as long as its not snowing and I have to work.

Baldzilla 12-03-2009 08:32 PM

Would Annapolis be a closer meeting place in between everyone? Solomons guys? Us B More guys, etc? As for MLAG and those who dont wnat me in charge, I got something for you...when I was in high school I hung out with a group of guys who were all Jewish, they called us "the Jew Crew and a few" with this group how bout we go with "AARP and Me" :D

Just kidding I think it'll be a good time, we could meet with Marty's group and still have this group! I'm all in...I volunteer MLAG to organize the first one since he is power hungry :D

Be careful letting Mlag set-up the first meeting. Remember he lives way out in the boondocks. He will have us meeting at the "Dew Drop Inn" down the street from him:D. Dolla drafts on Tuesdays. See ya there hun...Don

jdimig 12-05-2009 06:00 PM

I'll crawl out from under my shell. Annapolis works for me. Especially if its at the Boat Yard Bar and Grill.

drichitt 12-05-2009 08:38 PM

How about Severna Park area; say Bateman's? That's 45 min for us western MD boys and doable...Don

Baldzilla 12-05-2009 08:53 PM

Don, There are a lot of great places right there in that area, within 5 minutes...I agree, let's do it there if it's cool with everyone...we can do
Griffin's
Batemans
Brian Boru (GREAT Bar)

we can move around between bars in that area so we don't tire of a place...
so, when do we want to meet for the first time?
Mark

Francis 12-05-2009 10:39 PM

I am down for wherever. Just tell me when and where!

reeltor 12-05-2009 11:14 PM

I"m in for Bateman's or something in the Severna Pk area.

Baldzilla 12-05-2009 11:32 PM

OK, I'll throw a date out, how does Monday the 21st work? Season will be over, we'll have had some time to decompress, and we can BS, maybe we can plan some CBBT trips (I'm looking for experienced and inexperienced hos), etc?

drichitt 12-05-2009 11:46 PM

I'm good for the 21st. Nothing on my 'busy' calendar...Don

Fish Nut 12-06-2009 06:42 AM

Batemans has a back room area that they will set up with prior notice. It a little quieter than the bar area and the drinks get there just as fast. Just an option.

Not for this meeting but in the future. We could talked to Bob at Beefalos, he would set us up with a bushel of oysters for a small fee…

get the net 12-06-2009 08:57 AM

Well since the proposed areas are in my back yard I will have to make an appearance. Will be nice to put some names to faces etc.

jdimig 12-06-2009 09:16 AM

Bateman's is OK for me.

justchillin 12-06-2009 09:33 AM

If the weather cooperates that Monday will work for me

Baldzilla 12-06-2009 10:24 AM

Cool..let's go forward with the 21st, Bateman's sounds perfect, 7:00?

onefishnfool 12-06-2009 12:54 PM

Bateman's on the 21st works for me.

mdracer 12-06-2009 01:37 PM

So is it Bateman's?

Baldzilla 12-06-2009 01:50 PM

yes, bateman's the 21st at 7:00...
Rob, how do we make sure we get the back room?

Fish Nut 12-06-2009 02:24 PM

Mark , I will give them a call and get back with you.

Francis 12-06-2009 05:49 PM

The 21'st will be good. I'll bring some sample jigheads for the CBBT!
