Wet day- 12-9
Tried to save a few bucks on fuel and went LTJ of Love Point today. Caught 2 fish but they were both short (by maybe 10"). Tried off the Bush River too. Never hooked a keeper! Put 85 gallons of diesel in for 3 days of getting skunked... Got 1 more secret weapon up my sleeve; if that doesn't work on Tuesday, i'll be almost looking forward to getting boat pulled for the year! What is wrong with me?????

Nothing is wrong with you:D. You are doing two things everyone needs to do.
First you have to pay your dues with time on the water, and second, you have to learn how to fish your new boat:). I was lucky, going from my 22 wa Angler, my spread stayed the same (except I was able to add three more lines:eek:) Going from a 27 to a 36 means a whole new spread. I've seen all those rod holders on your new boat:rolleyes:. Get your spread right and you will be hauling big fish over the side in no time. 5th (Marty) ps sent you a PM |
Also helps if there are some actively feeding fish in the water where you are trolling. Been a tough year no doubt. Not sorry to see this year come to a close. Here's hoping for a better 2013:rolleyes:

I think fish are afraid to make the deck of your pretty boat dirty.. They are being considerate..
All kidding aside, its been a tougher fall for sure. Sporatic fish have been very concentrated on small pods of bait. What's Tuesday? You gonna lay net? :D (tuesday is the start of gill net season) |
Greg - you might be right! But I found water i can get to the slip so bring on the fish slime!!! Gill net? I'm hoping to use dynamite...
Don- I hear you. Last trip will be Tuesday, unless I lose my mind and head to Norfolk for next week. At least I'll have 4 months to get my act together before things HOPEFULLY start up again. 5th- I have 1200 miles on it since splashing in early Oct. How much are the dues?? :D:D |
4 months:eek: March is jut around the corner.......:D. 10 - 12 weeks tops. :)

Chessie 27,
Where are you running out of ? bhl |
I think the bigger the boat - more dues have to be paid :D My advice - drink heavily.
FWIW: It is not just you. Many very good fishermen are getting skunked. The ones catching are pulling out all sorts of tricks to get 2-3 fish. There are less fish around to be caught. Don't care how good you are - no one can catch when nothing under the boat. |

Skip- look at the gallons used in the lower left. The boat was splashed Oct 4th. At $4+/gallon...I'm paying man, I'm paying  Hopefully tomorrow things will turn around for the last trip of the year before getting pulled. Thankfully there isn't a meter for "gallons consumed on board" :D
Greg- I'm hoping that my "secret weapon" is like a gill net, but for now I'll plead "the 5th!!!" Hope he rubs off on me not the other way around. |
I try not even to look at fuel totalizer on my gauge. Twin outboards get real thirsty when running. Sure miss the $1.00 a gallon days.
Hoping the accountant falls for Exxon and his brother Shell being claimed as dependents this year :D Shame you have such a long run to where fish are supposed to be. |
