Meet "The Hunter"

Introduced my new ride to the Chesapeake this past Sunday. It was a solo trip as I wanted a very slow, quiet period to get use to how she handled and her electronics. My old boat had a Raymarine C-70 (w/o radar) so the GPS & FF was old hat. It is a great package, once you learn how to use it correctly. The software that came with this boat was the Navionics Platinum chip and it is far superior to their Gold Chart chip. I felt like king ch!t rolling down the flat Bay with the warm sun warming up everything. It even has a nice stereo, so listening to Thorogood made it that much better. I would like to thank B-faithful (Greg) who actually found this boat up in NJ. Greg was a tremendous help guiding me through the entire process; he even put me onto a great surveyor up that way. Going new was not in the cards, so a good deal on a recent model Judge or Maycraft was the plan. Greg's passion about boating and especially his intimate familiarity with the Maycraft 2550XL helped me move quickly on this boat...thanks Greg! I heard it is bad luck to change a boat's name (ala Gary) so gonna leave the name alone and see how it goes. Hate to admit one thing....now I have something in common with Baldzilla:D.

I ran into my good buddy Mark (Mlag) on Sunday. Always quick with the camera he sent me some pics (Thanks Mark, my kids really liked the pictures)....

Sweet looking ride Don! I'll be looking for invites on those rainy days:p Congrats!.............................Mark

I noticed that it doesn't seem to require protective head gear to get underneath of them rocket launchers.:D

Nice boat Don....Congrats.

Jim

Wish I could photo shop to make her - The Spot Hunter :D

Congrats on a sweet ride :)

B-Faithful 03-24-2010 10:27 AM

She looks great Don. Of course she would have looked nicer with a Judge logo on the side and without all that plywood in her... but you did good! :p:D

Windlass, full electronics, rod holders galore and you are ready to go! I am sure you will enjoy her. I hope she gives you many safe and fun hours on the water! :)

Steve F 03-24-2010 10:49 AM

That is one nice looking boat Don; I hope she catches many fish for you. I wish I could afford your old boat because I was told how well you took care of her. Good luck with the new/used boat and maybe one day I can come aboard and do some fishing with you but you know we would have to jig for them…..:D

Nice looking boat there.

Now, if you shaved your head and acted like a sissy, you'd have 3 things in common with baldzilla.

Oops, almost forgot the :D

Thank you to an unnamed source for alerting me to the sullying of my name as I rarely frequent this Judgeyachts Board...

SO I guess there goes the neighborhood...
Keith, I'll deal with you tomorrow ass...show up at 7:00 now

Believe me, neither of you have anything in common with Baldzilla (other than wanting to be me), I'm a fisherman, not a troller :) (and Keith has a shiny head too)

Well, and Don bought a boat like mine! (And I'll go ahead and let Greg take credit for "all" the advice you got)

Good looking boat, your Shrekness makes her look like a 23 though :)

reeltor 03-24-2010 12:04 PM

Congrats Don

Sweet boat...I'm happy for you. I'm looking forward to joining the Piliothouse community.

Don, you look pretty happy in that picture. I recently, had the pleasure of riding in a May craft for the first time. Albeit a short ride I was very impressed. I can say from experience it will take a long time for the new to you boat felling to ware off.

Congratulation on the new sweet ride.

I look forward to seeing her decked out in full trolling regalia :D

Hockleyneck 03-24-2010 01:29 PM

Looking good Don. Greg helped me when I bought my boat as well, he is okay for guy fom NJ.:) As far as your similarities to baldzilla, there is one other. You are both big mo fo's, who has to duck inside the cabin?

Sorry Mark...I would like to thank Mark as well. He convinced me that he was in love with his boat and I would not be sorry. He was right. He put me in touch with the outfit where he bought his boat and that convinced me that the deal on the boat Greg had found in NJ was better than I had thought. Mark and I tried to work out a deal on his trailer, but the timing just wasn't right. I ended up buying an pimped-out Load-Rite bunk with every option they offered. I actually talked with a lot of people before pulling the trigger on this boat and to everyone thank you.....Don

crabby and son 03-24-2010 06:07 PM

REAL nice boat Don! Now I can take my Son fishing without freezing him to death:eek: Walleye Pete would make that boat a little bigger!! I hope you get many years of good fishing with her and good on you for leaving her name the same!!.It's a good name........Gary

goinsfishin 03-24-2010 07:05 PM

Congrats on the new ride Don.....looks good!
Now that you've joined the pilothouse gang you'll never go back.
BTW - keep me in mind for a ride sometime.

Watch that Baldzilla guy....always stirring up chit!

5th Tuition 03-24-2010 08:43 PM

Really nice boat; I hope to get a real close look at her one of these days. Glad you got a four stroke:D. 5th (Marty)

mark1234 03-24-2010 11:32 PM

Congrats on the boat, Don! Nice looking pilothouse. I guess that means you are leaving the center console club. Although, in the fall when it's raining and cold I doubt you will miss it. Sign me up please for the HO list.

nosloclan 03-25-2010 05:36 AM

Great looking boat! My son will be jealous as his name is Hunter :)

What's all the black sh*t on the bottom ?
You trailer through mud ? :D

Breakaway 03-25-2010 09:15 PM

Looking good Don!! You'll love having a cabin. I'm sure that COLD day last winter I saw you in the Solomon's area had something to do with your decision.:D

Shawn Kimbro 03-26-2010 09:59 PM

Nice looking boat, Don. Congratulations. Can't wait to see you out there.

Now that is funny. I don't care who you are.

Nice looking boat Don. I like that extended roof. Should provide some shade this summer. I put a windlass on my boat at the end of last year. It will be nice not to haul that damn thing up by hand.

See you on the water.

Hey Don;

Great boat there. I purchased Greg's MayCraft 2550 when he decided to step down to a Judge (couldn't help myself...). Its truly a great boat.

My family of 5 uses it for swimming and tubing when I am not fishing on her. She runs easy at 30 sipping 10 gph on a calm day and can take the rough stuff and keep you dry. Heck, even the kids like to sleep down below when i am trolling.

I looked for about 4 years, did a lot of research, and met Greg on the Parker board (what board is he not on?).

My boat's name is Remedy. I too felt uncomfortable renaming the boat, however, there is only one Bfaithful on the bay, plus, I am not man enough to take all the crap he takes on the radio when he announces his name!
Sounds like its time for a MayCraft owner's "meeting" eh Balzilla????
Tim (Remedy)
