My Rant About Speedboats

Ok....So I apologize up front if you are a responsible owner......

I am so freakin sick and tired of idiots in Donzai type boats blowing past me and other boaters...This is my own personal get a freakin wife and get laid message to all those guys that need to drive 60mph within 50 feet of other boaters who may be enjoying the water, fishing, etc....

I have held back on the rants over the last few years...Hey its everybodies Bay, but damn 3 times this weekend idiots blowing by, no waves, no i am sorry, no trying to avoid a group of boats, nothing...

I can only hope these wonderful, testoserone filled males find a really nice 2x4, log, or other solid debris, to meet thier hulls at 60mph....Maybe that will help them slow down....

Again, sorry...Just had to ge that off my chest....

Feel better ????:D

Hey Mike:D. Don't you know they have to run close to you to see if you are catching anything:eek:.
I can't believe the number of people who are so inconsiderate. They are not only on the water, they are everywhere. I guess all those kids that parents couldn't spank have grown up and bought fast toys.
Next time a donzi buzzs you; try yelling to him that he needs a "time out":D.

Those "go-fast" guys are on a message board somewhere bitching about fishermen in the channels, way-back lines and planer boards.

I'd rather ***** about sailboats, but thats a different story...

Bend-Lure 06-15-2010 10:26 AM

Wow - I just noticed that the word B eye T C H gets starred out. Tight security.

garlien 06-15-2010 10:33 AM

Thought u had done that on purpose.....

onefishnfool 06-15-2010 11:14 AM

It is definitely not just you. I was out by SP light and a boat was fishing about 50 - 100 feet away, a large, approx 40', cruiser came down the bay swerved to just miss him and then swerved to just miss me, going in between us. I could have jumped onto his boat he was so close. We were way out of the channel. This is why I go out early and come in by noon on the weekend if I go out at all. All the sailboats and cruisers start to come out about then and you are in their way.

garlien 06-15-2010 12:07 PM

So true about the weekends....I try to spend at least the evenings out during the week, whenever I can....

Just a shame that with all that space out there boats are still just missing folks that are out there fishing....

Right. This is not just a "speed boat type" problem. There are boaters of all shapes and sizes that don't give proper space. How many times has everyone been buzzed by the big cruisers that come within 20' feet of you, throwing the 4' wake?

Bend-Lure 06-15-2010 01:41 PM

What amazes me is when you run 65 miles offshore, thinking you are getting away from everyone. You get to the tip of the canyon and everyone is right on top of each other running over other people's lines. Everybody wants the same piece of water, I guess.

uncljohn 06-15-2010 03:04 PM

all good instances where a 3oz drop sinker would have come in handy. Add a wrist-rocket to the mix and boats should stay a good 100' away from me! Just got to lead 'em enough w/ your shot.

crabby and son 06-15-2010 05:12 PM

I don't care if a boat is fishing in or near the channel. When I am running, I slow down until I pass the fishing boat and then get back on plane. I don't want to be responsible for knocking some one into the water from my wake. I have been fishing by the Rt. 90 bridge in O.C. and had 40' boats blow by me at 20 feet. Some people just don't care!...........Gary

Agree 100%, wish everyone else, INCLUDING other fishermen felt this way. Glad someone has some courtesy out there

garlien 06-16-2010 09:33 PM

Agreed...I do the same...I like to get to the next place as fast as anyone, but I at least have the common courtesy to slow down for folks...

Night Nurse 06-16-2010 10:10 PM

If you think the Bay is tight try Deep Creek Lake or Lake Anna on a weekend. THAT will freak you out.

**** **** *****

Just testing the program

Night Nurse 06-16-2010 10:11 PM

Hey it did work!

Reverb 06-16-2010 11:33 PM

Ted, I've been to Deep Creek on a holiday weekend.. I did it once and I'll never do it again. Thats a TRUE MESS.

But on the other hand Ocean City in the Thorofare or behind Assateague, is the same way..

I can live with blow boaters, and speed boats.. Its those damn Jet Skis that irk the **** out of me.

Had dinner at Harris's the other night and a "Hey look at me and my wild paint job on my LOUD go fast boat" kept going back and forth in the Narrows looking at the people on the pier, restaurant area. Not sure what he was looking for or was he trolling for chicks? Granted he wasn't going fast but he was looking for attention. Maybe he wasn't hugged as a kid?
db!

garlien 06-23-2010 12:03 PM

Sounds like he was not hugged, never got that one toy he wanted for Christmas, and is deaf, dumb, and blind to go with it...

Sounds like most of the people we are all talking about....Maybe if he had a wife she would tell him to quiet the @#$@# down and slow down...

Oh yeah if he had that kind of boat, he doesnt have a wife or a life....

crabby and son 06-24-2010 11:28 AM

There is nothing wrong with the "go fast" boats. It is not my choice of boat but they have the same rights as a fishing boat, cruiser or sail boat. It is the operator of the vessel that we need to key on. A loud boat of any kind should not be cruising a waterfront restaurant and disturbing patrons. There should be noise limits on all boats. All boats should show respect to others boating and obey the marine laws. When I was young, I would have loved to have one of those "go fast" boats but could never afford it.............Gary
