Wow, what an exciting title for a post. Last Monday was probably the last day to wear my boat shoes. For years I've been looking for the perfect summer shoe. It had to be water resistant, comfortable, didn't leave marks on the deck, and didn't STINK.
I never thought I would ever wear sandals:eek:. I grew up a "tennis shoe" kid. Some made you "jump higher and run faster" (PJ Flyers) and some were even stylish.
I never liked the sandals that show your toes. Some people just don't know when to hide body parts:D. That being said, I found KEENS two years ago and hardly ever take them off. Keens have a covered toe and also fit my other requirements. This year, I even had a "fishing" pair, and a "dress" pair for off the boat.
People at my community pool laugh at my feet because I actually have suntan lines that look similar to zebra stripes from the Keen's:rolleyes:.
With this cold snap (and possible snow) it appears the Keens get put away for the winter.
Yesterday, I wore my L.L.Bean Duck Boots and can't wait for next April/May to get back into my Keens.

I've had a pair of Merrill water shoes for a few years now and LOVE them. They function well on land (or a boat), they're self draining, they lace up nice and tight and they're meant to be IN the water. Perfect for the odd times you have to hop in the water for whatever reason, or for wading up to the beach at Dobbins Island.

They're pretty similar to these, and even with a blue sole on mine they don't leave marks on the boat:

I also had a pair of these shoes made by Simple for about 5 years before they finall wore out. I could wear them without socks everday and they never got a funky smell to them.

It's hard to find good shoes in size 15 still.:eek:

I'm with you, I grew up a Tennis shoe kid also.
Blue Jack Purcells were the ticket back then but I wore what my parents could afford and was happy.
Now, on the boat, I am not comfortable with bare feet or sandals so I still wear a light weight shoe that breaths easily and will not leave marks on the non skid deck.

Don, those aren't too bad looking. I mean....I wouldn't wear them out to the bar or anything,:D but I'd wear them on a boat.

$29.99 is a fair price too, but it's a shame they only go up to size 13 on Cabela's website.

My big paws require at least a size 15. :o

Don; those look a lot like my Keens. Closed toe, open web to suntan parts of your feet:D, and dry easily. My keens are about $80, but one pair lasts me two years.
