Bay Bridge 12-15

Finally got off work during the week and the wind wasn't blowing 20 knts, yet. Put in at SPSP around 8:00 this AM to some really ugly water at the ramps good thing it cleared up as soon as you cleared the docks but left a hefty toilet bowl ring on the boat. Plan today was to jig the bridge. A little foggy but temps were pretty mild compared to what we've been experiencing. Started at the western rockpile and worked it and the piling near it for an hour with no bites. Moved over to the eastern rickpile where there were a few boats working and started marking fish, nothing great but more than the western side. Jigging 40-65' on the bottom produce lots of dinks with an occasional keeper. Got hung up on something and broke off so I putted north while I retied to get out of the way. Looked at the finder when I was done and it was lit up (300 yards north of the north bridge). Bailed them for the next couple hours. Nothing big but a lot of fun and a better class than what I was catching at the rockpile. Biggest fish went 21" but most were around 17". I saw them on the top once or twice but everything I caught was dead on the bottom in 40-60'. I needed that and also got to give my Christmas present a good workout (I stole it from the wife). Ended up with 30 to 40 fish maybe more, I lost count at 15 and that was pretty early on. The talk on the radio didn't sound very good from the trollers near by and the ones I spoke to motoring by hadn't done anything either so I think I made the right choice for once. Hope everyone has a nice holiday. I probably won't get back out until after the new year. The water was smooth as a pond today but I think I left just in time cause it was pretty windy on the way home.

Nice going Mike!

Paul (onefishnfool) and I was in the same area yesterday drifting eels and also saw the marks. Paul had a rock take his eel but didn't hook up, I suspect it was a smaller rock that just couldn't take the whole eel.

Good work there, Mike! Glad to hear you are getting out and getting after them. Sounds like a fun day.

Shawn...it was fun. I re-read your articles last night before going and I think it paid off. Thanks

Thanks, Mike. It's all about layers out there right now... And I don't just mean clothes.

Funny, when I was driving across the bridge this morning on my way to work I saw birds working north of the bridge on the strong outgoing. I thought that was a little odd. Interesting that you confirmed a few fish surface feeding in your report. Good stuff.

Way to go....Had a great day the Sunday before last...Then this Sunday it really cooled down (no pun intended...)....

Think I am going to stay on shore through the holidays and try out some of the new xmas presents early next year....

Hoping to get a fresh water trip in here and there as well...

Me too.

Sometime between Christmas and New Year's I might truck up to Joppatowne and look for some Crappie. I'll let you know.
