OB Motor Help...
 

I have an 05 Yamaha F250. It suddenly developed a loud whine, only when in gear, increases with increased RPMS. Tops out at 5200 RPM's. Dropped lower unit, greased shaft. I checked lube, was burned, very thick, and only a couple ounces.. No water, or chunks of metal. Exhaust seems to be loud.. It also seems to be idling rough... Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Sorry Joe, I can't help you. However, Ed Miller is one of the best Yamaha mechanics out there, and he's in your neck of the woods. Essex's area.

Thanks Marty, I called him before posting, he won't be around until 8/10.

Only a few days! I second Ed. He is the best. If you find a marine mechanic this time of year that can jump right on your problem that can't be good. I know the wait is frustrating but I'd rather be out of commission a few days then a few weeks and dollars before a sub par tech can figure it out!
