Possible delay on Rt 97 and 50 tomorrow morning

5th Annual Burn Foundation Ride June 18

Tomorrow morning there may be 1300- 1500 motorcycles, Police escorted, leaving Cancun Cantina, (Old Telegraph Rd, Hanover, MD) at 9:00AM, going south on 97 then east on Rt 50.

The destination is Red Eyes where lunch will be provided to the riders.

The last couple of years the police closed the on ramps (onto 97 and 50) and blocked east bound Rt 50 where 97 connects. Not 100% sure if that will happen this year.
I believe it took about 1 hour for all the bikes to pass.

This is a fund raiser by Anne Arundel County Fire Fighters to help children that are burn victims try to find some type of a normal life again.

So even though some may cuss the delay in their travels, it is for a great cause.

Every year the group is larger and sets a new record, to be the largest group of motorcycles that crosses the bay bridge.

Most of you will already be on the water by the time we come through.

I love to fish but I have ridden this the last 4 years.

If your fishing the BB, you'll hear us coming. We will not stop at the toll booths, tolls have been prepaid by a donor.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Thanks for heads up.

Great cause - I can not think of much that hurts as awful as a burn.

Looks like great weather for the bikers :)

Thanks Skip!

The police did block all the on ramps to 97 and 50 and east bound Rt 50 at the 97 south merge.
Sorry for anyone caught up in that. I saw a trailered boat or two that had to wait

Last year there was 1300 bikes and we raised about $85,000.00.

This year 2 more records were set.

There were 1400 bikes, 2000 total riders counting the passengers, and we raised $113,107.50 to help the children that are burn victims.
