I HOPE I just wasted my money
After the tragedy last weekend on the Potomac, as we were running home from Coconut Charlie's yesterday without another boat in sight, I decided to make a "ditch bag". I just ordered the following:
Dry bag USCG approved battery powered flare Waterproof hand held VHF ResQLink beacon locator Whistle Signal mirror 25' parachute cord Small knife 8 Mylar emergency blankets (highly reflective and warm) Floating fist aid kit Locking Carabiners to keep everything together Waterproof flashlight Cigarette Lighter I plan to add a few protein bars and a bottle of Fireball as well. (Or water:D) Based on being only in the bay, I'm pretty sure I'm covered. What am I forgetting?? I am NOWHERE near as tough as the survivor from last weekend and hope that I have everything needed for a speedy rescue. I pray this was a huge waste of money and it NEVER gets used. (Kinda like my treadmill :o). And yes, of coarse the locator will go on Margaret not me. #myfriendsarejerks :p |
Before buying locators epirb or other elestronic life safety item please let me know . I have a very good business relationship with the McMurdo group and can get these items at a substantial savings. Go to their website make a list of gadgets you would like and I'll get you pricing. I know what you mean about never using. My wife still gets on me about the fire extinguisher I purchased and still to this day have never used!

Hopefully people here get their stuff through BOE Marine, who owns and operates this site :)

Strobe lights on life jackets. Friends that have been part of air searches claim that is crucial.
