Keith,

When you run you planer lines that flat do you have a hard time getting a small bait (i.e. 2 oz chute w/9" shad all the way out to the end of the boards?

Would it help to move the tridents farther back?

Yes, we sometimes move them back but the problem still exists to a lesser extent.

The small baits are a little harder to get outboard, and you cannot see the release clip when the planer line is submerged. We still manage to get them out there.

Keith; your tridents look like they have a curve in them, are these different than what you sell in your store. I thought the ones I looked at in your new shop were straight, like the ones Greg is showing in his photo.

The ones I use are Stainless prototypes. We sell both straight and angled aluminum tridents in the store.

Jerry,
I do the same thing and it helps to just speed up to like 5mph for a short amount of time to get them out.

I'd install zero degree rod holders (forward) on each side for the tridents. This allows you space in the back of the boat to fight fish and land them without having to move rods around in a critical moment. Two tridents forward gives you 12 board lines and plenty of space for deep lines with the room needed to net/boat fish.
