DCMSSA: Feb 1 Capt Mike Benjamin

All,

I hope you have all been out on the water and are finding the big fish! The DC Metro MSSA chapter will meet Wednesday Feb 1, 7:30pm at Steamers Seafood house in Bethesda. Relax, enjoy a cold beer, and good food while we discuss all manner of saltwater fishing topics. This month’s speaker is Captain Mike Benjamin! Mike will be sharing tips on the great Yellow Perch fishery in and around NorthEast, MD. Bring a guest to their first DCMSSA meeting and I will buy you a beer. If you get a chance, please post a reply to our announcement on CBA to generate some additional buzz. There is also an unconfirmed rumor that Ele from Herb’s B&T may join us and bring some heavily discounted Bass Assassins to sell.

We will have raffle tickets available at the meeting also. Proceeds will fund and support the 2012 DCMSSA Kids Day event in the fall. Drawing will be at the May meeting. The prize has an estimate value of $1,200 and includes the following:

All expenses paid trip for up to 4 with Captain Walleye Pete
Two St Croix light tackle jigging rods
Two Shimano Stradic spinning reels spooled with 15# power pro
Two light tackle jigging packs with lures, hooks etc

As usual at the meeting, we will be sharing fishing reports and tips. We will discuss all manner of fishing. Door prizes will be fantastic, including some very nice gear. DCMSSA meetings are free and open to all.

The spring trophy rockfish charter with Capt Greg on the Miss Susie sold out in about a week. Thanks to the 14 DCMSSA members who will be on the trip. For those that didn’t make the cut-off: Get your checks in early next time.

Don’t forget about the year-long DCMSSA rockfish contest. The member who catches the biggest rockfish in 2012 will win $200 cash. Picture of the fish with accurate length info must be emailed to Zach within 24 hours of the catch. All locations and all fishing methods qualify. You must be a DCMSSA member in good standing to participate.

Don’t miss the meeting, Wednesday Feb 1, 7:30pm at Steamers Seafood House, 4820 Auburn Ave, Bethesda, MD 20814. There is plenty of parking, and the meeting is only a few blocks from the metro. www.steamersseafoodhouse.com
