6/5/2018 Shallow Water Kayak Fun

The past few days I've been taking the kayak out and catching a few decent fish less than 100 yards from my pier. A few barely legals and mostly short fish, but on a light rod with 8lb mono they were as lot of fun.

Tonight I went out around 6pm and paddled for a bit, anchored and drained a couple of beers and waited for the wind to die down. I was hoping for a "calm before the storm."

The water eventually did get flat as a board and the fishing got pretty hot. I caught over 20 fish tonight with 5 of them being between keeper sized up to 26 inches.

All were caught on a small gold spoon in less than 10' of water. Caught them casting and trolling.

I know I don't have any world records here, but they were fun, and they were BITING. Super fun in the kayak.

I sent some pics to my son (who just graduated HS and has some free time on his hands) and NOW he's finally interested in kayaing and fishing again...lol.

Just have to pry him away from his girlfriend now....

If your son is graduating from high school it is difficult to pry him away from his girl friend. Ten years from now he will be begging to get away from his wife and kids.
