1- 29 , too nice to pass up
Tuesday's weather was just too nice not to go fishing. Did not get to Sandy Point until about 12:30 but lucked into good out going current - full moon helped.
Launched the boat while Black Lab - Ruckus - played in water. Had to be near freezing but no keeping him out. Boat was warmed up and whistled for my buddy to get on the boat. http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps957c0b5a.jpg Bay was smooth and weather warm enough to only need a sweat shirt. Water temp. was 38-39*. Ran to deep water on edge of channel to look for fish. http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps24729e14.jpg Finder showed fish and bait near bottom in 60 feet. http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps2712bfbd.jpg Motored up current and drifted over them. A gold Sting Silver very gently shaken did the trick and got a fat little Rock. http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps0bef3711.jpg Drift was quick so elected to anchor. Put over a bottom rig with 1 inch white Gulp. - hoping for Perch. Saw marks on bottom that looked like Perch. The Sting Silver got Rock - Ruckus was not impressed , he likes Perch. Current slowed so I tried a 1 1/2 jighead with white Bass assassian. Barely bouncing it on bottom was the ticket and got 18 to 24 inchers. Nice looking fish - really fat. http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps86a7d722.jpg Current slowed around 3:00 and so did bite. Pulled anchor and looked around but never found the fish. Ran back to ramp on calm seas. http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...psd797562a.jpg Once back - saw how low the low tide was , explains the long running current. http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps9edff556.jpg Ruckus likes being in cockpit and barking at ducks. http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps4095a367.jpg He played in water while I got boat on trailer. If you go - beware all the goose poop near ramp and on docks. You need to see it to believe it - real mess. Look close at first photo - all those brown things are poop piles. Got back and it was still warm enough to wash off the boat - rare to be able to do that end of January. |
Looks like you and Ruckus had a great day out on the water. Thanks for posting
