Heading to the Pocomoke River

I'll be camping down at Shad Landing until Sunday. trying to catch some fun freshwater fish while every know-it-all and weekend warrior in the state converges on the bay for opening day.

All assuming that this pneumonia doesn't kill me first. I'm on the tail end of 3 weeks with this crap. Feeling a little better, and this trip has been planned for a year so I'm pretty commited to going.

Good luck on the bay this weekend fellas!

If you like Crappie, there's no better time than now to catch them on the Pocomoke.

I caught at least 40 using a 1/16 ounce jighead and a small black tube with a chartreuse tail. Cast where you want it, give it a few twitches and BAM!

Caught a few decent Pickerel and Largemouth too, plus a ton of smal Yellow Perch and White Perch. Even had a couple of Shad boated on that little Crappie rig. And BIG Bluegill were fun on the ultralite rods too.

Best spots were right up on the trees during an incoming tide. Caught a lot of them in Corker's Creek and a few in Nassawango Creek.

I think the other fellas I was with caught another 30 or so.

Thanks for the report - There is so much good stuff to choose from right now, I almost can't wait for the big ones to scoot.
