that did not work right try again

I am going to do the complete package prop to cooler, gages and controls. merc bravo3 has 300hp and is much more streamlined than my old volvo penta.
volvo penta duo prop has 320hp and is about $1200.more. I will have to rebuild transom for new volvo because the old unit is larger than new ones.
merc makes an adaptor plate that looks ok (I am told)just for replacing volvo units with merc.I would like some opioions recomendations succes stories horror stories

I cannot speak from experience but I am told volvos are much harder to get parts for and much more expensive. Due to availability, cost of parts, number of service techs, etc. I would probably choose mercruiser. When i had twin 5.7s mercruiser bravo IIIs I could get parts and service anywhere.

I'll second what B-Faithfull said. For parts availability, cost, etc. go with Mercruiser. BTW, they are about the simplest to work on.

Rebuild the transom, convert to outboard, drop twin 200's on it and roll:D

If a Crusader can be mated to an outdrive, I'd go that route. When talking gas inboards, nobody can touch Crusader in terms of quality and longevity.
