Sunday Sept 21, 2014 - Near Love Point

Sorry for the late report. Fishing with Mike Sunday afternoon kicked my ass so hard that I actually took a sick day off of work yesterday.

Yup.....Fishing was THAT GOOD....

Mike and I left the dock at 2pm and headed south. Stopped north of Baltimore light and started putting lines out. Wasted about 2 hours before we started heading east.

About 3/4 the way across the bay, Mike yells out "Go right!!!" and grabs the wheel from me......about 15 to 20 birds were diving hard and we could see the water boiling with bait. Got closer and a humungous Rockfish flew up out of the water! About 3 seconds later, all 6 rods went down. That's the first time I've ever been on a boat when that happened.

We managed to get in 3 of the 6 fish. 2 lines snapped (one was a lightweight Perch rig that I run 5 or 6' deep just to see what might be lurking in the upper water column - we had been so bored until that point that we were trying anything to score some kind of fish).....

Biggest fish was 34" and none of them were under 30".

We made a few more passes with just two lines in the water and every pass both lines got hit. We pulled in more than a dozen big Rockfish in less than 45 minutes.

Headed north and stopped at a favorite spot near the marina. And just for you guys, I caught a fat 25" Rockfish on a 3/4 ounce RatLtrap. :)

Getting dark....we started heading in. Mike threw a line with a RatLtrap in for a quick troll to the channel and was rewarded with a healthy 19" fish.

Only one of the big dozen had the slightest hint of a sore on it. Could have been caused during the melee, but she went back anyway. Mike has a freezer full of fish at home already, so I kept 2.

This was by far, the best day I've ever had on the water north of the bridge, and one of the top 5 days ever regardless of where I was fishing.

And to think.....we started out the day hoping to troll spoons and catch Blues......

Sweet! Almost headed to the bay and decided to hit the river instead. Caught a few fish casting LT stuff but really think I was made more for trolling. Glad you found some fatties!

Good job hanging in .

It was a captain's dream day and a mate's worst nightmare. Fish, lines, rods, lures and a net....all scattered across a very small deck.

I'll d/l the pics off my phone sooner or later. It's been a long time since I've had any pics worth posting....lolz.

That's awesome!! I haven't had that type of day yet this year. Last year had a couple of them and it is complete chaos but it's what memories are made of.
Now taking Monday as a sick day?? Maybe you need to hit the gym harder or the gin less! :D :D
