My Big Bad Blue.....

Trolling arounf yesterday afternoon way north of the bridge this little guy hit a Redfish spoon that I had bought when I was in Florida. It's a great looking lure so I thought it would work up here too.

I had two hits on it but lost the first fish. Then this WHOPPER hit it....lol

Sorry for the sideways pic.....I don't know why the forum rotated it like that....it looks nice and vertical on my computer before uploading it.

And later on last night, despite the gnarly wind and huge chop I managed to get this 20" fish onboard with some lightweight tackle on a medium action rod thanks to Garlien grabbing the net so fast:

The last couple of weeks has been a lot of fun...

As I said to Scott last night with the wind howling and the waves crashing over the bow, this may end up being a banner year...

The first 6 months were horrendous, but if this keeps up, it will be one ofp my best years in recent memory.....

The last few weeks have brought us numerous perch near citation size (and hundreds of others), channel cats, hardheads, stripers, blues, and others.....most of the stripers have all been over keeper size and some have been 30 plus inches/over 10 pounds....

oh yeah, and all north of the bridge on artificials.....have not used live bait in weeks...

best of luck to all of you !

Spot 77 - If that Blue was legal , send him back down as a live line bait. Add about 1 oz of lead so he gets near bottom.

Not uncommon for big Rock to feed down current of a school of Blues. I've seen Blues busting bait on top and then a few big Rock come in - feeding on the Bluefish.
