Flats, April 4, Just So So
 

Hit the Flats at 6:00 AM Thursday. Kinda chilly, my dumbass was wearing shorts.. Not a good idea. Thank god my bibs were in my throw bag.

Overall, water was really dirty. Most of the boats were down at Sandy Point

We wnt back and forth from Battery to Sandy. We caught a couple of "decent fish" in the 30 range. Hardest part was keeping your bent poles, hidden from nearby fishermen. One bent pole and your gig is up.

Cruised around the entire Flats, found water up to 59 degrees, but still really dirty.

Not a bad day, cuz I havent fished there in three years, but not what I had hoped. Beats working thou.....

Brian; why do you think the water was dirty? Did it look like sediment? No big rains lately. Algae bloom? Any guesses?

We went out for a while today until the waves beat us up so badly we went in. The creeks looked really good, but the bay had a slight color to it. Not enough to notice it from atop the bridge, but just enough when you were at sea level that you could tell there was some kind of tinge to it.

I was talking to a well known fisherman on the flats just the other day and he told me it was because of all the rains we got last year the sediment came from the rivers and now are on the Flats. He said that anytime the wind blows it stirs it up and it does not take much. He also said that it might take as long as 2 years before it settles down bearing no heavy rains. :(

No clue my friend. There was minimal rain the two days before, wind was minimal. I love Steve to death but don;t buy his friends reasoning.

If that were the case, every guide worth his ass, would cancel every trip he had booked. Probably just a fluke.. err I mean flounder..

Flounder.. Umm.. Two more weeks and we'll be catching em up.....
