Francis 11-05-2009 08:59 PM

It's good to see some friendly faces here.

5th Tuition 11-05-2009 09:07 PM

Hey, Hey, Hey Francis; you're already up to two posts, slow down bud! Oh; now I'm up to two as well.
Get that whaler out and get some of the monster fish that Capt. Greg Buckner posted on the old site.
Best of luck to everyone on the new board. Have a great, and safe, fall. 5th (Marty)

JoshKaptur 11-06-2009 07:40 AM

I'm here. Going to get out for a couple hours tonight. Want to run down to chesapeake beach but due to limited daylight will probably be in the BB / LP area.

So can I ask - is the idea of this site to keep it small and full of info - a best kept secret kind of thing? Or is the idea to spread the word?

And as long as I'm opening a can 'o worms, what is the relationship between TF and this site?

goinsfishin 11-06-2009 07:48 AM

I'm here.....ready to have some fun, tell some fish stories and post some fish porn.

Slayer 11-06-2009 07:53 AM

Howdy everybody..I was "bring_em_on" from the old site. Decided I'd take a name I'd rather have since I have the option now.

See ya'll out there.

Hi Josh, this site has no affiliation to TF at all. I'm a member over at TF. One of our customers asked me to set up a Chesapeake Bay fishing forum for him and a bunch of local fisherman looking for a new online place to hang out. Said somebody was going to do it, might as well be us since we know how to manage forums like this. I think the idea is to spread the word about this new forum. The more the merrier.

Baldzilla 11-06-2009 09:53 AM

Josh,
I think the hope is a great information board with great fishing info, without all the BS...hopefully it will be controlled and the BS kept to a minimum...I plan to post 95% here from now on
Mark

Hockleyneck 11-06-2009 09:57 AM

Ha guys, great to have a new forum and thanks for the invite.

Fish Nut 11-06-2009 01:31 PM

Wow, the color schem looks good.

Every one into the deep end of the pool:D

B-Faithful 11-06-2009 02:51 PM

Beats the heck out of Chesapeake Bay brown :p

I wish the boat was a Judge instead of an Albemarle though :D

Fish Nut 11-06-2009 03:20 PM

The Albemarle is ok, it reminds of my beauty.:) I will admit I like the line of the Judge. I still need to get a ride in one to see how they handle. I love the open cockpit of the Judge.

B-Faithful 11-06-2009 03:53 PM

She doesnt ride like an Albie or a Carolina in a head sea but if you slow a few knots, let the boat run level and she does well running level with the bow down into the chop she does very well. I love the cockpit area too. Pleanty of room to keep a full crew out the weather too. Let me know when you want to go.

reeltor 11-06-2009 04:13 PM

Who's ready for some 50" fish?

Although a mid 40" fish arent bad either :p

drichitt 11-06-2009 05:21 PM

Word travels fast. Good to see so many familar names. Looking forward to a new venue for fishing and bay discussions. Will take a few visits to get use to things here..Don

Sho'man 11-06-2009 05:55 PM

I made the jump & kept the same name. I'm fishing both days this weekend out of the choptank...

reeltor 11-06-2009 06:04 PM

50"

I get the deep rods Greg, you get the WWB this year:D

5th Tuition 11-06-2009 06:27 PM

47 inches is the biggest on my boat, and I handed the rod off to an older friend of mine; it was a good move because he passed away a few months ago. My biggest is 43 inches. I may have had a bigger one this last spring (remember the post "Marty's Pig") but we didn't want to keep her out of the water any longer than to snap a quick picture. Looking for a 48 this fall or next spring. 5th (Marty)

KawCrab 11-06-2009 07:52 PM

Cool new site. I really hope it takes off well.:):):):)

crabby and son 11-06-2009 08:28 PM

I seem to remember a certain guy on Greg's boat who moved so fast to the short deep boat rods it was a big reeltor blur  :D

I'm sure you did...but no worse than anything my kids give me every night:D

Hockleyneck 11-07-2009 06:50 AM

I am going to Fredrick to look at a Gheenoe today. I expect to see some posts and see you guys out there Sunday. My plan is to start at 78A unless someone changes my mind.

Hakuna Matata 11-07-2009 02:39 PM

Here! Just learned of this site and noticed the TF regulars so I decided to join.

I do have one question though, if the idea is to spread the word about this site and guys are visiting this site to avoid the BS associated with TF, then what's to stop this site from getting the same sort of negative traffic once it becomes popular?

240 LTS 11-07-2009 03:25 PM

B-Faithful,
Saw the link on THT Chesapeake board, thank you!!

Signed up right away and listed my bass boat in the For Sale section already.

I live in Harford County so typically fish from Pooles and north in my bay boat on weekends .

Living right on Kent Narrows during the week (due to work) and only get to fish from the rip rap down there. HO after work anyone?

Looking forward to meeting new friends and continued sharing with older ones!

Jeff

JoshKaptur 11-08-2009 08:47 PM

As someone who hopes to one day own a judge 27CC, can I propose the "good info with less BS" means one Judge post per week rule for B-faithful??? :D:D:p:p

All in fun, brother :)

More seriously, to the extent this board offers something a TF alternative, I wouldn't mind if this board had a definition of "spot burning" as well as an official and enforced position regarding it.

spynet000 11-08-2009 08:57 PM

Looking forward to the new forum. I agree with Josh, no spot burn rule would be nice. Headed out with Francis in the AM, hopefully we'll have a report.

mlag,
That rod holder in the background, base mount, is it strong enough to hold a fish of that size???? I would think the base being rectangular, would be stronger if it were parallel to the rod. You know a wider or longer (depending how you look at it) area to spread the stress.

I was looking at that type but was concerned about the strength. You have them through bolted right, not just screws into the fiberglass?

Maybe they are stronger then they look.

Oh, awesome fish!!!!!!!

Jeff
