Fishing for a German Shepard Pup

Received word that my 7 year old German has cancer. For $500 I can find out what type, and how long he has with us. I'm not a cheap person, but I have over 5 figures into this dog already, and the wife and I made a pact several months ago, its enough. So we figure we better get a move on and find another puppy so Bailey can enjoy the companionship while he's able.

The only perimeters are HEALTHY, and he can't be white, for other sentimental reasons. If we have a choice, black is preferred.

If you know of anyone's out there, please let me know.

Thanks

Sorry about that. my in-laws shepard got cancer and was put down 2 years ago. I thought they were known for hip problems but not sure about cancer. Good luck in your search, but I'd suggest heading to the SPCA and seeing what they have. You might find a shepard-mix

A guy in my office was just telling me today that he found some 4 week old german shepard puppies on craigs list for $350 each. Probably look in the DC/MD/VA area on CL. He is thinking about getting one once they are old enough.

B, sorry to hear about your dog Sheppard’s are the best dogs around. As Uncle John said you might want to check out some animal shelters and if you call Frederick (301-600-1546 and as soon as the recorded comes on press 0) ask for Penny and drop my name you know I only worked there for 24 years.

John, Steve and others.. I went the adoption route last time for a Lab, and its been "difficult" at best. We'd like a puppy to teach from the get go. Wifes home for a few months, so its the perfect time to teach.

Keep your eyes and ears open, please.

Rescues

Also check the german shepherd rescues. Most have a site that you can see the dogs they have, then inquire. If there are any tempermental problems they will help and if need be take the dog back. We got a 3 year old Rott from a rescue and have had no problems with her. She loves playing with kids and not a mean bone in her.
