5-9-2012 Shallow water north of the bridge

We made it out for about an hour last night. We knew we were pressed for time, but decided we would try to sneak in 2 hours of fishing anyway.

Left the marina around 6pm, and didn't go far. Water was FLAT, and there was a slight breeze blowing. Awfully overcast with a drop of rain here and there. Took about 40 minutes to get a small dink in the boat. Then about 10 minutes later I got a fat 22 to 24 inch fish. Let it go next to the boat.

Before I could retie my line (the braid looked a little beat up at athe end) the wind came out of NOWHERE and gusted something fierce. Waves were breaking over the bow. Where the $$^%^* did that come from and where did my flat, calm water go?? Well that put an end to our light tackle fun. :(

Oh well, at least I got back out on the water for a bit.

Glad that you got some pullage, but sometimes it's "that time of the month" for mother nature, and she can become a real b*tch in an instant.

That wind was no joke  - thought you had wrong day when you said it was calm Weds evening.

It hit fast - glad you got back OK.

Yeah, I just skimmed over your report....looks like you pulled out just before the SHTF. Had we been further out, we might have been a little concerned, but that Shamrock is a tough, sturdy boat and we only needed about 3 minutes to get into some sheltered water.

And besides....we caught two fish, so who cares about the weather? :D:eek:
