Anyone use them ? If so, for trolling only ? Any other uses ? If so any particualr colors and/or setups that seem to work best ?

Works great for slingshots, otherwise, unless you're a junkie, I don't see much use. :p

They are good to troll for blues.....12" fluorescent orange for bigger blues especially at Pt. Lookout..........Gary

They work real good down on the bottom during the May Worm hatch.......the red about 8" have been the ticket the last few years.
Large black ones can be good in the early fall when the eels are moving a lot.
Otherwise they just take up room in the tackle drawer.

The only fish I have caught on them is blue fish. Mostly, they take up room in the tackle box and dry rot.

The few times I have been up to Montauck that have been almost automatic for 3 to 4 foot fish off the lighthouse there...

Guess its like everything else...What works in one place may not in another.....

What I was told by a charter mate was the approx 18" - 2' large dark red and black mid may to beginning of to mid June for Striper. After that the flourescent red and green all through summer for blues and an occasional striper, saves your soft plastics. I have the hoses but haven't tried it because I am bored with trolling by mid May.

Last May, I replaced my WWB rig with a single 18" red tube (no weight) and I did pretty well with it. It was while the May worms were at their thickest.

Hoses used to one of my favorite lures. There is an art to getting just the right curve so them swim correctly.

I have them from 6 inches out to some 36 inch '' snakes ". All caught fish years ago but the last 4-5 seasons they have not produced as well.

I still run 1-2 - often about 12 to 14 inches long. It will catch 16 inch to 40 inch Rock plus Blues. Even caught some Speckled Trout and Weakfish ( sea trout ) on them.

One problem is finding a good hose. Not many shops are making them and some of the hoses out there use the wrong wire - IMHO.

The small 6 to 8 inchers are deadly when the May Worm hatch is one. Two bounces off bottom is deadly in 25 to 35 feet of water.
