That's good news.

I just wish there was some way to determine how much money the company made selling illegal rockfish over the years the investigation (5 yrs I think). If the company made two million, and was fined 800,000, it still make poaching profitable.

A little jail time would have really sent a message:D.

Where's the IRS in all of this? Anyone ever heard of them getting involved?

Sportfishermen will be the ones who end up paying the most.

Many of the fish poached were big breeders.

We all obey the laws to protect these fish so they can spawn the next generation of fish. Poachers operate outside these laws and the total damage they do is hard to measure.

It is not just the fish they killed - it's the unlaid eggs too.

The YOY has been declining - if it continues , sportfishermen will see tighter rules.

Now , was it overfishing by law abiding fishermen or poachers taking thousands of fish that caused the trouble ?

Glad to see some stiff sentences. Hopefully it will deter others.
