we chose NOT to go to CBBT on Saturday (report)

I'm very tired so won't give a full report. Suffice it to say, we had a great day out of ocean city. We ran about 75 miles, found a few fish here or there, and finally found the motherload of birds diving on mixed blues and rock all in the 30-36 inch range. We caught well over 50 fish on jigs, spoons, plugs, and topwater. Within 2 miles of the beach to as far as 10 miles offshore. Was able to run back to the barn at over 40 knots at dusk in my sea hunt.

I'll let the pictures (lots more at the link below) do the talking.

Josh,
Sounds like you made the right decision! Wish I could have come but at least Navy won! Nice fish!

WOW WTG
Thanks for the rpt and pics. :D

I thought about the secret. The good thing is, you know I caught my fish within 75 miles of there. Much less potential for extreme pressure out of there. They won't be in the same spot tomorrow, and there's not an 18 mile long man-made structure to concentrate them.

One observation - the big school of fish we were on (probably over an acre) was on the move SOUTH and I mean fast.

We also caught an isolated fish here and there on various humps... sometimes with no marks associated with it.

Slayer - there were a few other boats eeling/trolling within a mile of OC inlet, but once we left them to go searching, we never saw another boat within 2 miles of us for the rest of the day. We had a gull/gannet storm to ourselves for over an hour.

Josh - Thanks again! Amazing time! (as all trip are)

Francis - How true. Every time you set the hook you knew it was going to be a real nice fish (unless you were the "dog slayer" ie josh who i think caught 4 dog sharks. ha)

JoshKaptur 12-12-2009 11:58 PM

Not everyone can LTJ a dogfish ya know! In fact, I bet many people on this board have never caught 4 dogfish in one day on BKDs. I may be up for an award, or at least a promotional package from Steve!
