Roll Call this week..

I am going to try to book a trip for this Friday out of Southern Maryland in hopes that the bite over the last 3 weeks remains after the big blow and blow out tides we have been having. Looks like the first nice day to fish. Anyone gonna make a trip this week?

cletus9000 12-08-2014 11:21 AM

We are leaning towards fishing a few days this weekend down at Buzz's if the wind is manageable. If you fish Friday would appreciate a report so we know if the current pattern is still intact.

Hoping to head south on Sunday!!!

justchillin 12-08-2014 01:23 PM

Weather permitting you guys have convinced me to give up up north here and make the long drive south. Will be either fishing off Marty's boat or taking mine as a second boat if we have enough anglers and decent weather. Figures I'm off work until the 16th and wind forecast is terrible this week

My plan is Friday and Monday (Monday would be with my dad and his buddies from NJ if the weather looks nice)

Daughter has nut cracker performances all weekend so Sat and Sunday are out for me

justchillin 12-08-2014 02:17 PM

Hopefully see you out there Friday or Monday

I checked out a little before thanksgiving but have been thinking about a last trip Sunday. Any tips on how far south would I have to get?

Sounds like at least below the Choptank. More than likely all the way down to point no point and below for a more consistent bite. I will be swinging thru the mouth of the "Tank" Sat morning and might get a chance to poke around a little. I will post if anything Looks promising.

davem251 12-08-2014 11:16 PM

Thanks Jeff, that is consistent with what I had heard. I guess I was just dreaming to think that someone had seen some fish Annapolis or north.

Honestly, the last two trips I took were the best of the year for me, I might just leave those memories intact.

B-Faithful 12-10-2014 10:33 AM

I am thinking I am not fishing Friday. The light winds forecasted earlier this week for Friday have changed and now NOAA is calling for 10-15 with gusts to 25. Fishweather has 18kt winds at 7am right down the Potomac. Fingers crossed that it changes.

BTW, there were a few fish caught out of Annapolis last weekend. It was slow but my buddy found a few fish.

Rockin' Robin 12-10-2014 08:18 PM

Yes, a buddy of mine participated in a small tournament out if Annapolis on Saturday. He took 3rd with a 38" while 1st place was 47". They trolled 7-2:30pm and caught only 2 other small fish. Still, the fact that there were some decent size fish around Annapolis has me contemplating fishing my boat Monday one last time... but only if I can't find a ride with someone heading down to PLO! It does look like Monday will be the 1st reasonable day to fish with this neverending wind.

justchillin 12-11-2014 10:03 AM

Rockin Robin just wanted to say hi and thanks again for your assistance that day out in the fog keeping the 5 or 6 of us separated while we trolled .

B-Faithful 12-11-2014 05:58 PM

I have a crew confirmed for Monday :) (Dad and his buddies from NJ :p )

OK, I guess I am going to have to convince Mark or Alex to join the Judge caravan then!

OverCooked 12-12-2014 10:37 AM

Wish I could join you guys. I am hauling OverCooked down to the FL Keys today to the nice warm sunny weather :D She will be staying there till I hear from you guys the spring bite is on!

If any of you guys want to get out of the cold one weekend and bend a rod let me know!

Lucky man. Which Key do you stay at? I am planning on being in Marathon the third week of January.

We are taking the big boat out Sunday for a end of season fun trip. I am lobbying hard to only run boat rods. We won't be far from Deale.

5th Tuition 12-12-2014 09:12 PM

Tawn; the good thing about fishing this time of year, you don't need ice to keep the beer cold:D

Most marks are fairly deep, boat rods only:) Last week, we only caught three fish off the boards and about 20 off the boat rods. Greg said the boards turned on later in the day, but we were already headed home by then:eek:

I'll put something together after the holidays. We need to all get together and tell some lies and drink a few beers.

Sitting here watching the "Mecum" car auctions. It's like a trip down memory lane. Most are cars from the late 60's and early 70's; the "pony's" I grew up with:)
I never see the '69 Ford Torino GT Fastback (all white with a red "C" stripe) that I had in high school:mad: But still fun to watch.

Sorry Dave, last night I found out that the bridge clearance Intel i had gotten earlier was wrong. Oddly enough, no one answered the Dover Bridge phone last night about 7pm. Come on, the middle of Dec, way up the Choptank, 7:00 on a Friday night, and I get an answering machine?? What are they thinking ? :p.

Decided the heck with it, I'm not going to run it to Denton I'm just going to have it trailered there. That's right "have it trailered" as in not by me so she should be safe! :D. In other words, as for "poking around off the mouth the Choptank, I got nothin' for ya. Sorry and Good luck!!!

Not a problem. A+M does a nice job. I just pull it on his trailer at the Narrows and off we go.

Ended up staying home today. I'm finally getting over the flu after a week and I decided spending all day on a boat, in the cold, drinking beer probably wasn't the best idea so I passed.

They texted me a picture awhile ago. The had one fish in the high 20" range.

Tawn,
I woke up this morning shivering my a** off and have a fever over 101. I got a flu shot in October:confused: go figure.

The boat is being kept in Tavernier Creek. Fished yesterday it was pretty awful. 75 and sunny, light breeze, and a fish caught almost every drop of the bait...:D

Goal is to fish the 20th, 26th, and 27th. If I can squeeze another day or two with work and family obligations... I am there. I am sure the weather will be a limiting factor too :)
