Tuesday is it !!!!! 4 days until the close of the 2009 C&K season.

12-15-09 is the close of the C&K.

My season was cut short. Overall it was a great year spent many hours on the bay a few in the ocean. Made some new fishing friends in 2009, and looking forward to learning some new techniques in 2010

Managed to catch a few of the following species.

Yellow fin Tuna
Blue Fin tuna
Mahi Mahi
Rock fish
Blues
Spanish Mackerel
Flounder
White perch
Spot
Croaker

Personally I had my best year on Spanish Mackerel

Next year I am planning some new targets for the mix.

Black Drum
Red Drum
Mako
King Mackerel
Reef Donkeys
:)

Nut,

It was a good year indeed for me too. Glad it was for you as well!

I personally only reeled in one cow (37” preseason C&R) as my guests always go first, but put plenty of others on ‘em including a 41 ½ incher for my 87 year young Pop. I did catch oodles of schooles. We visited a friend in Fort Meyers and I got a back water slam (a trout, feisty 24 inch red which we cooked up, and a 30 inch snook). We finally caught keeper flounder, and we tangled with slammer blues in Cape Cod. Fall was nothing short of incredible! I only got one shot at the catfish, and Spanish remains unfinished business.

Next year is Outer Banks year, and I’m looking forward to going offshore and filling the freezer with tuna as well as tying into some reds on the causeway. Perhaps we’ll get back down to Florida, and maybe I’ll finish the business of landing that 150 lb tarpon. I’m looking forward to using planer boards starting in the spring, and next year I’m going to finally get that mac, I can feel it! :D

Don

Oh, Nut, BTW: What's a reef donkey!

It was a good year for me too. I am winterizing the boat this weekend.

I got better at the techniques I use - trolling, livelining and LTJ. I got fairly good at trolling for flounder too. I am looking forward to expanding that next year and trying to dial in croaker.

Now it is off to shooting trap, skeet and sporting clays. My son wants me to start shooting handguns so I may do some of that too. Anybody interested in shooting let me know.

Will also do a little woodturning in the basement. I turn bowls, goblets, etc. I have attached a picture of a type of bowl that I turn. It is called segemented turning.

As for fishing I will probably attend some of the shows if they are still around, work on tackle and poke around tackle shops.

I am looking forward to March.

Ok I admit it. I am wuss I winterized the boat early. I am still going to fish if I get the opportunity. Trying to schedule a Tog Trip and maybe a deep drop trip or a trip with walleye at the CBBT.

I will be purchasing my equipment to make trolling lures this weekend.

Spring is just around the corner.

Also I am upgrading the antennas on the boat to the Shakespeare galaxy type. Replacing the old fuse blocks with the new blue sea blade fuse holders. Removing and cleaning my spreader lights. Possibly installing a heat exchange heater running off of the engine block.

I hesitate to mention it for fear it might uh hum, increase effort, but Dec 16th marks the opening of the best time to fish for stripers on the Bay.
