Winter roll calls for buddy boating

Let's keep a thread going for when people are fishing as the water gets colder with fewer boats around so we can help network and buddy boat.

Current thoughts for me are possibly a late morning leave this Sunday (last day of MD season) to fish either PLO or BPL.

Second thoughts are to fish PLO into VA on Tuesday. Calling for patchy rain but light winds.

Best days fishing are the ones you have to spread salt on the deck ;):D

I hope to get out Sunday just to run some stabilizer and startron through the system:D

I may:Dbe tempted to drop some lines or jig for a few hours if the Mr Buddy Heater has some propane left in it:eek:

Then she goes into winter storage. But, she can come out at any time to fish nice days:)

Over the winter, I have to coordinate getting a few things done to her to make 2016 even more productive then 2015!!

It was a great year; even picked up a few more fishing buddies!! My poor wife is worried that if I kick the bucket unexpectantly; she will not know any of the people that come to the viewing:eek::eek::eek:

Have a great Holiday; Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukah to all my friends.

Speaking of winter; I believe we had a little snow this morning:eek: I went out to retrieve the paper, and found snow (not frost) on the truck this morning.

Trying to throw together a last minute party out of Annapolis for tomorrow 06/20 and fish the BPL area. Goal is to troll big baits off the boards and small baits off the boat.

I have a crew:eek: See you tomorrow.:)

I will be fishing out of southern Maryland this coming Saturday, December 26. I will likely fish out of Ocean City Maryland January 2. I'm trying to fish out of southern Maryland on 28 December also. However I'm trying to arrange that trip and my schedule

Greg; we have plenty of guys that want to try OC. Just need a pretty day:D

We need to charter you so you can get that truck fixed:eek: Holy cow; I don't want to hear any complaints when Brennan has his first accident:)
Looks like you and some pilings got closely associated.

I may be in for OC if weather cooperates. Don't like to hear about boats and pilings let alone trucks and pilings!

Ding in the truck happened behind the warehouse of the printing company I work for.

I am trying to decide if I get if fixed or put the money towards a 2500 series diesel given that I drive 20-22k a year and tow ~75x a year (if not more). My truck already has close to 125k on it.

If your current truck is a diesel keep it and fix it! New ones are too damn expensive. Just replaced my diesel truck this past spring and went back to gas since I have a company truck and really don't tow much except in the fall. If you want to fix it let me know and I can get you in touch with a friend or mine that runs a body shop and could probably do it under the table. Does beautiful work.i was just looking at xl 259 super duty and a stripped model was around $65,000. If you want to go fird also let me know as I am good friends with owners of academy ford in laurel. What printing co. Do you work for, I do the HVAC work at several.

When does Brennan get his license? You could get yourself a new 2500 Duramax and pass your truck onto your son. :D

I saw your truck at the park on Sunday, but didn't think it was yours at first until I saw the sticker in the window.

Mike, he has the same truck I have (same year, same color). I had to rush back to the parking lot at SP on Sunday and beat Greg there. I was afraid if he got back before me, he would swap out quarter panels from my truck:eek::eek:

I am looking at two used trucks or repair my Tundra. Both used trucks are 2007s. One is a dodge Cummins with 85k with the 5.9 and the other is a duramax with 124k. My truck is a gas 2011 with 125k. Needs $2500 in repairs but it is paid for. Ha

I get 7-8mpgs towing. I got 12mpgs with my dads 2010 dmax

Printing company is www.trayinc.com.

Brennan gets his license this summer. No gas guzzlers for him.

I am fishing the 26th out of Southern MD. Rain early in the am, then sun and light winds. I will likely run over the VA line to troll for some slobs and come back into the river and jig.

B-Faithful 01-06-2016 07:33 AM

Possibly trying to fish out of Southern MD tomorrow. Only hold back is that I have broken out in hives yesterday and my eyes have swollen. I am hoping the reaction or whatever it is goes away a bit today.

If anyone is possibly looking to fish tomorrow, C&R, message me.

B-Faithful 01-06-2016 03:42 PM

I still have some hives but the eye swelling has gone down. Not fishing tomorrow.

I have room for a few Saturday out of Southern MD! Light tackle jigging.

B-Faithful 01-11-2016 10:21 AM

Before the water temps get too cold and the bite dries up, I am trying for a Southern MD trip this Thursday or Friday :)

B-Faithful 01-12-2016 11:48 AM

Friday is my day if you need a buddy boat... I already filled a slot or two.

Wish I could be a buddy boat but currently have a gaping hole in deck from redoing it and the non skid and too damn busy at work to jump on weekday trip. Damn the luck!

I would like to go with you but have 3 webinars scheduled for Friday. Ain't middle management grand?!?!? (Someone please shoot me!)

B-Faithful 01-13-2016 08:45 PM

I am fishing Friday. Here is to hoping that this cold snap didnt shut down the bite....

I am likely running a trip Saturday too if the bite is good Friday and the weather holds out for Saturday.

If you are running your own boat and want to buddy boat my cell is 410-533-1435:)

PS. I carry an EPRIB and liferaft this time of year. (pulled from my father's boat when his boat gets hauled for the season)

B-Faithful 01-18-2016 07:22 PM

Watching weather for Wednesday or Thursday

Possible trip Wednesday.. Starting later though. 10am-11am launch and fish until 4pm-5pm to allow the temps to get up some and overnight winds to die.

Fish weather has winds dying of at 10am -- NOAA has some winds in the AM http://www.wunderground.com/MAR/AN/534.html

May be a last hurrah for a bit (if even possible)..

B-Faithful 01-19-2016 01:26 PM

No go this week. Still keeping an eye for the future for OCMD or PLO. However It may be a bit of a layup period for me.

Mako mike 01-19-2016 02:54 PM

Say it ain't so! You defiantly were fortunate with the weather to extend your season for sure.

B-Faithful 01-19-2016 04:23 PM

Other than the last two years when we had all the extreme cold, snow and ice. I have made a number of trips into January. It is one of my favorite months to fish if the weather allows.

Here is a trip where I took some CBanglers a few years back: http://www.cbangler.com/showthread.php?t=1585

Here was my favorite Jan trip of all time out of OCMD.. Caught many many fish in addition to the whales. Jan 14th 2009: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...4837866&type=3

Last January I only got one trip out of OCMD before the ice took hold:
http://www.cbangler.com/showthread.php?t=2790

Here was an over 40" I landed the end of Jan in 2010 in the Patapsco:

Greg; don't forget the trip I took with you out of OC one year. Lot's of whales and blue back herring being discarded as bycatch by the big trawlers.
Remember, we didn't know where "the sliver" was; but now I do:D

B-Faithful 01-20-2016 09:59 AM

That trip wasnt one of my tops due to a flat tire on the way down and no rockfish. If I recall we also saw a shark feeding on the dead discards that the trawler dumped (dead fish floating everywhere). I think we ran from North Ocean City down to the VA line inside 3 miles.
