Nice fish Bruce and Marty

The fish we have had trolling so far this season have been coming long off the board. Short lines have gone virtually untouched. That should change as the water warms up next week and menhaden start to show in numbers

Fished Saturday afternoon for the first time time in two weeks out of Annapolis

Water was 45 degrees. Blow out tide (almost had trouble loading my boat on the trailer water was so low). Almost no bait and very few marks. Tolled with lines in the water for about 3 hours or so. One fish while setting lines.. a nice 44"er in 48' of water or so.

I am hoping to see more bait and fish with some sun and water warming up.

Today on this date the last few years we have been at least 50 degrees at TPL. Yesterday was 45 degrees. 2010, which was a fantastic preseason the water was almost 55 degrees by now.

Last year:eek: April 2, 2017 had Mike (Garlien) and his son onboard. We hooked up 5 fish:D

This year, I've only caught one fish (on Bruce's boat). Mine goes in the water this week:)

I know this was probably directed at Bfaithful, but I thought I might respond.

My Green vs White has really gone through a transition. When I started trolling, I ran one side of my boat white, the other green. Then, for years, I mixed my colors. I run 14 board lines total, and I would alternate green on rod one, white on rod two, green on rod three, and so on.

This year, I will still have green or white tandems in my spread, but ALL my umbrellas will have white teasers (the lure may be green).

If you look at many of the Charter boats sitting at the dock, many of them pull ALL umbrellas. My boards aren't big enough to accomplish this, therefore, I stagger my board lines (tandem, umbrella, tandem, umbrella). Many Charters pull ALL white umbrella teasers, but mix white/green lures behind them.

I'm slowly doing the same thing. As I run out of green teasers, I only buy white teaser as replacements.

I realize that some days white or green is the hot lure, so I will stay with mixed lures (you can even mix head hair and shad bodies). White hair with green shad works just fine.

Just simply don't get caught with all one color.

This week my white has been doing best. However green was better a couple of weeks ago... who knows. Long off the boards have been best though with cold water

45 degrees still today and very little bait. Had some jellies

It was sunnier and warmer yesterday. Surface temps were up to 48 degrees. However still very little bait. I did gannets looking around though. I also saw an osprey with a shad (not a menhaden). We only hit one fish and missed another. Fish was the first male of the season and was caught on the shallow, short line (40-50' back)
