More like "Jackasses". Seems several people would have been involved.

Reminder

For those of you that store your boats elsewhere, I think this is a good reminder to check on your boat regularly.

Yep; the guy that stole all of our electronics (almost two years ago) was just recently back in court for violation of probation. He has not repaid one cent toward the judgement against him. The judge finally sent him to prison to finish out his term (18 months); BUT, he is back out on the street because of appeal:eek:

From all my court appearances, I have concluded that Justice is not only BLIND, but STUPID too.

Marty - that POS is lucky he stole from you and not me. I gave up on trying to handle things in court years ago. As you are seeing first hand - the POS thieves and their lawyers know all the tricks.

I now prefer the law office of Hammer and Crowbar.

Look at damage done to Whalertowne - be interesting if these thieves are caught - and if so , what little penalty they receive.

Well, I can tell you it won't be commensurate with the crime. Our guy got caught red handed with the goods. Here's how the judge figured up how much in restitution he needed to pay.

Let's say he stole a $2,000 sonar unit and sold it for $1000. You turn the claim over to your insurance. You have a $500 deductible with your carrier to buy a new unit.
Now the perp gets caught. Goes to court, and the judge only makes him reimburse you the $500 deductible.
He sold the unit for $1000; gets caught, only has to pay you $500:eek:

Thought crime doesn't pay:mad:
Even if he gets caught, he's made $500 profit.

Then he "plays" the system and remains in society for nearly two years. He hasn't missed a birthday or holiday in all this time.

In the meanwhile, your insurance premium has increased and your diminishing deductible has reverted back to a high number. You have missed time from work (if not retired) in order to make the court appearances; and he's foot loose and fancy free. If he has a state appointed attorney, he's made out like a bandit.

Oh wait, he is a bandit:(

Just goes to show that at least in Maryland " crime does pay". It goes to show that you can't collect from some piece of , oh wait a minute POS that doesn't have a dime to piss on. So what, jail time, after you have taken a loss on the theft plus time missed at work and the as$@!" That created the problem sits in jail and can't pay back a dime. Hell Marty you were kinda lucky in hind site compared to Brian who had flush mounted electronics where they screwed up the whole helm while removing them and the poor guy was trying to sell the boat during the process! I know it still stings, I cannot imagine. Luckily my head unit was on the other boat at the other marina. It is truly ashame that the court system not just in Maryland but across the U.S.A is in favor of the criminal instead of the victim. I still will never understand, except for the almighty dollar why lawyers will represent these people, yes I said these people knowing damn right well they are lying through their f'n teeth! Enough with my rant, I could go on forever!
