Slipping your boat for Spring Rock Fish

Ok gang, I am starting to get fired up for some fishing. Finished my wish list of planed upgrades for the boat. Finished cleaning waxing and re spooling all the trolling rods. Just set up all of my equipment to start making my own parachute lures. I am on my way to having the rig splashed in around 2nd – 3rd week in March for a shake down and to burn off some old fuel.

One thing I did for the first time last year was slip my boat for the spring season at Solomon’s. I normally drag the rig wherever I fish for the day. During spring season this can be a little bit of a pain. I loved the ease of the slip and I fished a lot more because of it last year. I just made my reservation for a 5week transient slip and I looking forward to as good of season as I had last year.

I would highly recommend slipping your boat for the early season if you feel comfortable with it.

Anyone slipping there boat down south? I need some Neighbors

We got a temporary slip last spring in Chesapeake Beach, and it was worth it. This was during the time frame when my boat was still at Ferry Point in the Magothy. Now that I'm based out of the South River, what I might do is talk to the marina owner where I dry-store about a tempoary slip for the spring season.

I like keeping her on a trailer. I can fish Solomons one week and BPL the next. It allows me to mix it up. :)

Rivercat My friend had a boat in the South River for the spring season a few years ago.
If I remember correctly from the South River Bridge to BPL it was a 11-12 mile run and about the same to CB. I have done well around the C&R buoy a few times. BPL area is also a great spot as well as the cut on the back side of Popular where it dumps into deep water. I have been getting quotes for slips for the month around 9 – 10 dollars a foot with a minimum of 20’ If anyone needs rate information I have most of the Solomon’s marines prices send me a PM.

Greg, I like keeping my boat on a trailer. It was a great experience last year for me at Solomon’s. Plus I know the ramps aren’t bad all of the time but. Last year Solomon’s opening day was a zoo. Yes all the animals were cut loose and some of the drunks from TIKI were still stumbling around. Sandy Point Breezy Point and CB are also crazy. The boats headed out of Solomon’s last year looked like a seen out of Jaws:eek:. The slip was well worth it opening day. I will be pulling her in late May and getting ready to trailer to OC for some shark fishing then back to CB for a chance at a Black Drum. Then it’s time to bait the trout-line for some crabbing.
