Fuel Filter - How Bad is This One?

3 Attachment(s)
This filter has less than 8 hours of run time on it. On another boat I own, the filter has hundreds of hours and looks brand new.

What other problems do I have that's causing this?

Anybody else have their filters look like this?

Is this bad enough to seriously restrict fuel flow?

I’m no expert by no means but it looks like you may have some gunk in your fuel tank and its sucking it out of it. I hope you can find the problem becasue that looks nasty....

I think I've convinced myself to open up the fuel tank and drain it. It's only a 35 gallon tank (I think) and it's maybe 1/3 full.

Think I could empty it with a hand operated bilge pump?

Trust me I know better than to use an electric pump not designed for such purposes. ;)

Yes you can use a hand pump that should work but you may have to remove the gas tank and clean it out at least I would that way you know you have all the gunk out of it…
