Hey Marty...............I keep a spray can of "Off Deep Woods" (I think thats what the can says) on my boat. I have had to spray my legs down several times this year. Keeps them pesky flies at bay. Regarding the windlass thing...............I suggest either having a windlass on the boat you will be on or make sure you invite an extra angler in his mid twenties
I used to invite "windlass Phil" (Old No. 7) alot before I got my windlass
