Brian; I too have a dyson and it's a great vacum. I don't have the model you have, but it is quite efficient.
When I retired, I tried to pick up some of the household duties the wife had always done (she still works). We had a crappy vacum and two cats. When we purchased the dyson, I would tell people all I have to do so turn it on in the middle of the living room floor, and the cat hair comes running across the hardwood floors into the machine
