Default 15 Sep 2013..A late start after a way too late night at the Harbor.

Tony, one of the new owners of Happy Harbor let it slip earlier in the week that he had never been live lining before.

I fished a charter Saturday, stayed way too late and ran my mouth and said I would be down early the next morning, around 9 am, to take him out and show him how we do it in Deale.

While getting our spot out front, several guys called and said it was a tough bite and the boats were so thick you could walk from Bloody Point to Poplar Island without getting your feet wet.

Too late to back out now....made our way over, looked around on the edge of the group and saw absolutely nothing on the meter. Reluctantly we slowly idled through a gaggle of private boats without seeing a single mark until bang, there they were in a big gap amongst the boats. Dropped the hook, slid back on them and three on at once. Only needed eight and we got them fairly quickly with only a few throw-backs and a couple of bluefish bite offs.

Backed into the Harbor at about 1pm. Cleaned the fish, boat and Tony hooked us up with drinks and had his folks cook up the fish. Decided to try and have the fresh bluefish breaded and fried instead of giving it away as crab bait and everyone that tried it was amazed that it was bluefish.

BTW, while spot fishing north of the three legged lady in 25', we caught five 14" croaker which also ended up in the fryer.
