He is probably just too fat and lazy to reel something in that far. I heard a rumor he won't even feel in fish on his own boat. Sounds like a jerk to me!
Besides being a LOOOONG way to reel, on busy weekends, I'd be worried about being cut off. People are thinking about 300' back on a crowded day. But if your catching and not losing lures, as the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!
