Default Perching with the MSSA NW chapter

NW chapter of the MSSA puts on a Perch tournament each year. Rodeo style running to 4 locations, drift fishing each spot for roughly an hour. One specific of the tournament is everyone must stay with a defined distance of a marker which is placed by the tournament boat. All location are in close proximity to Sandy Point so a verity of boats can fish it safely. A great way to spend a Saturday with family and friends in pursuit of the elusive white perch……..

After fishing, the chapter has a weigh in at Sandy Point and a great little cookout.. Man hotdogs and burgers taste great after chasing those elusive little critters..... Great to put names and faces together.

WE caught perch steady for 4 hours on Blood worms & Grass shrimp using Hi - Low rigs in varying depth on oyster shell bottom. A few spot and one nice croaker 15 or 16" . Caught over 200 fish with the majority going back over the side to grow into Moby Perch......

All the big fish wear caught by the lady fisher people on the boat. Which kept me busy baiting and removing fish from the hooks.....

On average every fifth perch was nice size between 9" - 11".

once the day was done we weighed in and captured 4th place overall in the perch tournament. A Pleasant surprise and constant reminder from the ladies that they caught all of the big fish......
