Default Spanish Mac = free rod/reel?

Another beautiful morning on the bay. Not far from Matapeake, Anna hooked up her 1st spanish mac of the year on a sm green clark spoon.

This also becomes an entry into the drawing for St Croix rod/Penn reel offered by Marty's in promotion of the Youth Angler of the Year contest.

Each qualifying entry (legal size fish, pic with the under-16 angler, date and general location emailed to yay@mssanet) during August gets a chance in the drawing.

That's a great looking fish, and one happy kid!

Great job getting her out again.

Did you keep the fish? I made some a few years ago and it was fantastic!

This one swims free. The YAY contest encourages C and R by awarding an extra 5 points for fish released. She wanted the points.

We didn't get another yesterday but i'm betting they'll be here good this year and we'll see more soon. So far, my favorite recipe for them is grilled with butter/SnP served on spaghetti with a quick and rustic homemade sauce - Md tomatoes, tomato paste, garlic and onions cooked in a frying pan.

I think it only needs to be 22" to get entered in the Diamond Jim contest. That is how Ed got in 2 years ago. Only got a shirt but it gets you in the prize drawing.
