Late weekend report
Thursday: Left Chinco inlet @ 5:15. Trolled Sam’s Hill and picked up a quick gaffer. Thought about heading to the lumpy, and hooked up on the WWB Jap feathers w/ bally. 45# BFT. Headed for the Washington iso YFT. Broke the line on a big hit. Had a nice Blue Marlin on for a minute but he jumped off. Fun day, nice run back.
Friday: Trailered from Chinco to Cape Charles iso cobia. Picked up a bushel of bunker and box of hooks at Chris’. Really nice facility at Cape Charles. Fuel was $2.54 on the water. I just paid $2.59 on the road. Guess I should have waited. Caught one live bait with cast net at the ramp. Fished 36A with a few other boats all day. Zero Cobia, 50 sharks, 10 rays/skates. Constant action, but the elusive cobia still eludes me. Trailered the boat home.
Saturday: Recovery and Ceviche.
Sunday: Put in at the Wilson Point ramp. Fished Middle River with my wife and two year old son. Jake caught a 9” Yellow Perch, a 18” Channel Cat, and a tiny SunFish all on night crawlers and hi/lo rigs. Jake’s favorite color is yellow, so the perch was great! We went on a nice cruise around MR, and Jake was driving the boat most of the time (I helped a little).
Fun long weekend. Highlight for me was Jake and the yellow perch!
