I follow the KISS rule (Keep It Simple Stupid)
. I tie three knots. First, a polamar knot to tie all my small terminal tackle (snapswivels to line for example). Second an improved clinch knot to tie lures to leader (bucktails, spoons, parachutes, ect.). And third, a 10 x 10 knot to tie leader directly to line (if I'm jigging and don't want any terminal tackle on the line). This knot usually becomes an 8 x 8 because it is strong enough with only 8 wraps.
All three knots work well with both mono and braid.
I was struggling with a uni to uni line to leader one day on Walleye Pete's boat when he showed me the 10 x 10.
