Sunday after the cold front
Left the Bodkin around 10:00 after letting temps come up a bit. Gave a shout out to Jake when passing 5 and it was hammer down in flat calm seas heading for the Chester. Was greeted by working birds on the rip of love Point and there was a fleet there working them and didn’t see anyone doing anything so continued up river. Opened up fish box and it looked like the birds had gotten into it and worked on my umbrellas that were a tangled up mess. Put a wire line out on the bottom with a 18 chrome toney and I swear before I could get it in the holder it was fish on! Nice plump 23” in the box, and it looked like it was going to be the day. Put it back on bottom while working on the mess with umbrella and deployed them as I got one untangled.
Trolled around in the river not marking much bait and hardly any fish. Managed two more at 21”&22” then at around 2:00 got word that Lolo was on some bigger fish down south. Decisions, decisions? Checked tide in the area and had missed it getting late so made the choice not to run! As we were clearing the lines to head accross the bay the spoon goes down hard and released a nice fat 27”. Garlein sent me a photo of a nice fish he caught in the patapsco so we ran over and tried for a bit before heading for the barn. I had water temps from 51-47 degrees and it appears once again the fish you find one day have moved the next.
