Talking Another 47 incher - PLO on ifishMD.com

Don't pass up an opportunity to go on a walk-on with Greg!
Those Judge 27's sure can bring up the fish, huh?

This one was 45+ pounds... released after we had our limit and just 3 lines still in the water.

Then we jigged a few dozen upper 20's fish with this 30 incher being the last of the day. 10" chartreuse BKDS on 1.5oz jig heads in 60' of water.

Epic day.

My little spy told me you all had a good day. Pretty fish and work guys. I hope they're there Sunday, I would take some just half the size as the bigun! Let me know if you all are fishing Sunday. I promise, I won't follow too close!

How about a little info for those of us thinking about making the trip next week.

Where did you troll? Near channel? Are birds showing the way? Did you use boards? How many lines? How far back?

Nice fish, but info is just as important

Pulled 17 rods (initially - Fish started clearing them for us at a rapid rate for a bit ). Mostly 9's off the boards and some 6" umbrellas off the boat. Umbrellas were hot. Channel edges in the same area we fished last year (and every year). Follow the birds. Not hard. There is a fleet of trolling charter boats and light tackle jiggers chasing them too. Hooked up on 3 big fish. Big fish came off of board rods running shallow. Jigging was mostly productive on the bottom and on suspended fish down about 20'. I mostly had the crew go to the bottom and jig back up through the water column. 1.5oz heads with 10" BKDs were best. Most fish caught on the big plastics would classify as keepers.

Could only get two to commit for tomorrow last minute and I am dead tired from todays haul. No fishing tomorrow. Heading to NJ to bring my dads boat back here to sell instead.

Short video of a decent fish on the jig (had to cut short to boat the fish, most were in the 24"-30" range)

Thanks Greg. I can't decide if I want to pull boards, or just go with boat rods.

If you just want to catch fish, boat rods are all you need. 6" baits will keep you busy. If you want a slob I recommend boards. However the trolling and jigging fleet will keep you outside the heavier bird activity since it gets tight in there.

There were rock fish chasing bait all day yesterday. Sometimes suspended, sometimes on the bottom. Here is shot of the rockfish chasing bait on the bottom while we were jigging yesterday.

What is better than 1 Judge 27 in the drive way? 2 Judge 27's in the driveway..

The downeast layout with twin 130's is my dad's. I am selling it for him. He is looking to downsize to a boat more suited for back bay fishing in NJ and towing the grandkids on tubes.
