PLO Wednesday 12/21.. Winds 5kn. Who is fishing. I will hit MD Bay first C&R, then hit the river or VA hoping to put fish in the cooler. (most our fish have been in the potomac this fall anyhow)
Yesterday was tough on keeper sized fish. Lots of dinks and we only ended up with 5 keepers most were 20-22" and one was 24".
Heard there was a hot bite first thing in the morning but by the time we got out, I think the fleet scattered the fish. Our keepers came right on bottom with mostly Lil bunkers in chartreuse. (I put on white and no takers ) I think trolling would have been more productive but the trip was booked on being light tackle.
Sounds like your day was similar to ours. We caught a handful of 22-23" fish but mostly smalls for us also. We saw many more birds this trip than we did on our last one, so we were hopeful, but mostly small fish under them.
Was thinking that would be my last trip of the year, but then I heard fishing was good on Thursday. So it looks like I'll be doing one more (or so)!!
I am trying to put together a walk-on trip for Monday the 26th out of PLO.
Depending on how that goes, depends on where I try next Friday. Possible OCMD run. I have friends going down and fishing there this week, plus a couple of buddies who keep there boats there all year.
Fun day fishing along side of Breakaway again! It may bit it for the year for me in the bay. Maybe OCMD in Jan if the weather looks good and there is word of a bite inside 3 miles
