Lacky Jay - 1 Mako Mike - 0
Jay and I left the bodkin around 2:30 Saturday afternoon and headed to Belvedere shoals to see if we could find some fish to jig on. After a dismal report from Marty on Friday our hopes were not high. Upon arriving we found several bait pods of peanut bunker spraying but not marking much on them. After about a half hour of jigging on what we did mark Jay yells out I got a screamer. Well the waythe fish was acting it seemed to be a nice blue and after Jay danced around the cockpit a few trips I netted what would be the largest spanish mackerel ever caught on my boat, fat and just shy of 25". Jay was tossing a rubber jig and me metal. All I managed to do the entire trip was snag peanut bunker. And talk about luck! At one point, while I was up on the bow casting I hear Jay yell " oh ****, do you have a boat hook!" By the time I could get to the back of the boat I see Jay fishing his rod with baitcaster attached out of the bay!
Jay was certainly born with a horse shoe you know where!
