Default cool sidescan info /pictures

Default No joke - diving the bay without getting wet - w pics

April 1st might not have been the best day to try something new - but the weather was too nice.
Ken who owns Reel Dragon tackle and I were talking over the winter about his side scan sonar.
He showed me some awesome shoots and we agreed to get together. Then came the winter of 2010 .

With nice weather - Ken met me at Sandy Point with his boat - I had a dive log book of GPS numbers of stuff I dive in the bay. Ken punched in the numbers - few people I would trust these to. With the course set - off we went. The side scan was beyond what I imagined. It showed detail of the wrecks and other areas just like I was diving it.

I was wishing the water was warmer so I could go diving. Ken even pointed out a few objects that appear to be anchors. I'll confirm that in about 6 weeks.

The side scan was tricky to read at first but once I got used to it - everything made sense.

The ones above are wrecks but the one below is a well known site. It is the Sewer pipe - just above the bridge.

If you can picture the Sandy Point jetty underwater - that is what it looks like.

I missed some of the better shots - too caught up in watching the side scan.
It was amazing how many things we saw that very likely are lost crab pots.
The area off Sandy Point was literally littered with them.
Ken has a way to down load all the info - when I get it I'll post better pictures.

Guess the joke is on me with some much great info but water still a touch too cold for me.

My humminbird picks up bait balls and saves time when looking for live bait, I am getting ready to download the new down scan. I haven't seen the Lowrance units but the guides down in south Florida are sold on Humminbird even as expensive as they are. The regular sonar on my unit blows away my former Garmin by miles.

Three things wanted for my boat are:
  1. top support mounted rod holders
  2. Windlass
  3. HDS 5 with structure scan...

someone call me for their print needs or start order some new boats so I can afford them..
