Default Gillnet found south of Poplar

Heard a rec angler had 7 lines go down at once and called report a poacher. A net found so full of fish and recreational gear couldnt be hauled so they called in a bouy tender to haul today.

Hopefully the nail in the coffin to show that by allowing the use of the gear is not managable and their use leaves our resource prone to mass illegal takes.

I got a call on Sunday - friend hung up some deep lines close to #82.

He thought it was a wreck - not on charts. To a diver , that is sweet discovery.

I planned to dive the numbers to figure out what it is but if it turns out to be the net - might have been my last dive.

There are many more anchored gill nets. They will all be found eventually. Make sure you report the coordinates to NRP if you suspect one.............Gary

I thought it was just me. I hung a line 1/4 mile south east of #82 two weeks ago. Lure should have been at about 30 feet deep in approx 48 feet of water.
