Default Opening Day Reports

Well, I am unable to get out at all this weekend due to family commitments. Trying to live vicariously through the success or failure of the rest of you. How is it going out there?

I'm not out until Monday, but most reports I've heard are successful. We may keep one for the boat to share, but most are going to be C/R. I hope my phone has enough photo storage
Best of luck to everyone.

I will be out for a bit Sunday afternoon and then going whole hog Monday AM if the weather reports hold. Will report how I do. May keep one for the season as well, but all the rest will go back. Good luck to all.

Thumbs up Great start!!

We had a super start to the season!! Went out for some C&R yesterday, Lines in at 2pm lines out at 4;30pm. 36,38, 41,42,44 and a solid 50" all released unharmed!!!
This morning, had our regular opening day gang. Lines in at 7am....lines out at 9:30am. We had 9 fish from 36 to 45" during that short time, once we had 4 on at one time!! We actually kept the smaller fish only and were able to release the larger fish, it worked out great that way. We were back at the dock at 10:30
We caught all the fish, except 2, on 4/6 tandems, back 8 or 7 bars from the boards. Color meant nothing! We ran a combination of "Fishnut" and "Rock-On" chutes in various colors. The other two came, this morning, on WB spreader bar w/white eel tails and 2oz John Deere white chutes. Back 18 bars on a Penn 330.
Depth was from 28 to 50Ft. PS...Lots of sea lice!!!! Their still coming!!

3 fish north of love point- 25", 34", 38". They preferred white for me. All 3 off boards. Pulled the lines in at the tide change and watched the dirty water return from up north

Got 6 fish and had 4 knockdowns by 9:30am. All but 1 on boards 38 to 45 ft of water. Some bait flipping on top this morning. I can't do pic's today.

Ran two half day trips today. Morning was slower than afternoon for us but we managed our fish. Afternoon popped two fish over 40" on lighter solo parachutes.

Best part was both parties had youth fishermen get personal bests!

Shawn's friends showed up late so we didn't have lines in until about 7:30. No sooner than we had the green side out than one came in the boat. Then we drove around for nearly two hours without a touch. Finally got them all but it was a slow grind. Put the last one on ice at about 2:00. Fished about a mile or two south of 83. No real rhyme or reason...about a third were on white set shallow, third off green set a little deeper, and the remaining third came off the deep rods. Nothing special, all but one was in the mid 30 inch range with one 42".
