Much to my surprise, my "2 dogs" got me the custom jigging rod I have been
eyeballing at Shore Tackle for a number of months!! How
they knew which one, I have no idea; I guess they could smell my drool all over it
Well a gorgeous new rod and a perfect weather day equals only 1 thing ... so when I got done cutting the grass, we went out to try a little bottom fishin'.
Wind was bucking the tide when we got to Swan Point and the bottom fishing was slow at best. We all used bloodworms. Caught a few small perch and a spot or 2 before getting the call from a buddy who was lighting rockfish up!
"Wind 'em up folks, we got fish to catch!" And away we go to the bridge. Lots of folks fishing there but most were anchored. We trolled back and forth and boxed an 8 fish limit in just over an hour. No monsters but kept 19"-23" fish and had lots of action. BFG's and spoonbrellas were the ticket again today.
Headed over and down to Hacketts afterwards but it was rough and no one seemed to be fishing the green can. Putted through Dolly's Lump looking for fish but decided to call it a good day and go home instead. Never did catch a fish on the new rod but think I'll probably get another chance.....someday!!
Paired it with a Stradic 2500Fi with power pro on it- should be pretty bad ass!!
