Maryland Gillnet season is Jan Feb and December.

I couldn't find exact dates to when gill netting is allowed for striped bass in VA but found this:

In the Chesapeake area, the open commercial season shall be from January 16 through December 31, inclusive. The minimum size limit shall be 18 inches total length during the periods of January 16 through December 31. The maximum size limit shall be 28 inches from March 26 through June 15.

The Secretary of Maryland Department of Natural Resources pursuant to Code of Maryland Regulation 08.02.15.12(H) announces the re-opening of the 2014 commercial striped bass common pool gill net fishery on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 3:00 a.m with a catch limit of 300 lbs/permit/week and 1200 lbs/vessel/day. The common pool fishery will close on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 11:59 p.m.

Thanks Dave, I saw that. DNR sends me emails that reflect this. That's why I was wondering what was going to happen in Jan.
It would be nice to know I didn't have to be on the lookout for nets in Jan
