Saw this on Craiglist and thought I'd pass it along.

Come out to Matapeake State Park on Kent Island, Saturday May 12th, as Chesapeake Light Craft brings their entire fleet of kayaks, canoes, rowing craft, sailboats, and paddleboards to the beach for demos. This is the 14th year of this fun, family-friendly event, called "OkoumeFest" (after the beautiful marine plywood used in our boats). This event is FREE and open to the public. For the kids we'll have a free model boat building event on Saturday at the beach.

Chesapeake Light Craft (CLC) is the world's leading manufacturer of build-it-yourself wooden boats, producing computer-cut kits for more than 80 small craft designs at our factory in Annapolis. CLC's award-winning boat kits are easily within the reach of first-time boatbuilders, with more 22,000 launched over two decades. Chesapeake Light Craft designs are built by amateurs and professionals alike in more than 70 countries around the world.

If you're new to boats or boatbuilding - maybe you've been toying with the idea of building your own - there is no better opportunity for you to test out the various CLC designs, attend seminars, and have all of your questions answered. In addition to the CLC staff, you'll be able to pick the brains of dozens of amateur builders, all with their own experiences and ideas. OkoumeFest is both a "show & tell" and a great excuse to play in small boats. Many CLC builders turn it into a deadline, planning to have their boat ready for launch at OkoumeFest. Others are just excited to share the results of their first (or second, or third) boatbuilding adventure. Awards are given to amateur boatbuilders in the afternoon.

OkoumeFest will actually begin on Friday, May 14th, at the showroom and factory in Annapolis. Stop by (1805 George Avenue) for an Open House from 1-7pm with boatbuilding seminars, factory demonstrations, a casual reception, and great deals on merchandise! On-the-water festivities commence at Matapeake on Saturday morning at 9am and end at 5pm.

Email or call 410-267-0137 with any questions. More information and photos from previous years are available at http://clcboats.com/festival -- attendance is FREE, but please RSVP online so that we can plan accordingly. Hope to see you there!
